Taking advantage of civil war in the Jin Dynasty, the contemporary non-Han Chinese ( Wu Hu ) ethnic groups controlled much of the country in the early 4th century and provoked large-scale Han Chinese migrations to south of the Yangtze River.

Other notable aliases include: Mr. Han, The Father, The Devil Doctor, Chang Hu and Wang Yu-Seng.

A diplomatic message sent by Hulugu to Emperor Wu of Han which was recorded in the Han Shu defined Hu as the proud son of heaven ( 天之驕子 ).

The Xiongnu were the most powerful non-Chinese ethnic group bordering the Chinese Han Dynasty, therefore the Han simply referred to them as the Hu ( the non-Chinese or barbarians ).

Huhanye Shanyu ( 呼韓邪, 58-31 BCE ) ( also called Hu Hanxie Chanyu ) signed a heqin agreement or Peace and Kinship Treaty with Han China in 53 BC.

The Han court also deployed mercenaries from the Xianbei and Wuhuan for campaigns against the Wu Hu and to quell peasant insurgents.

The scenario resembled that of Eastern Han Dynasty with one exception: the internal weakness of the dynasty provided the Wu Hu with the chance to become rulers of China.

There were also other types of triumvirates during the Eastern Han ; for example, at the onset of the reign of Emperor Ling of Han ( r. 168 – 189 ), the General-in-Chief Dou Wu ( d. 168 ), the Grand Tutor Chen Fan ( d. 168 ), and another prominent statesman Hu Guang ( 91 – 172 ) formed a triumvirate nominally in charge of the Privy Secretariat, when in fact it was a regent triumvirate overseeing the affairs of state and Emperor Ling.

When the tribes of Qiang and Hu rebelled with local gentries Han Sui and Bian Zhang in Liang Province, Dong was reinstated as Knight General and sent to suppress the rebels.

That state's King Geunchogo seized several coastal cities of China, notably in Liaoxi and Shandong, to retain its superiority over Goguryeo and a variety of southern Chinese dynasties, which had arisen within the context of extended civil wars caused by the fall of the Han Dynasty in 220 CE and the concomitant invasions of foreign tribes, including but not limited to the Xiongnu and Xianbei ( Wu Hu ).

Liu Yuan, the founder of one of the Wu Hu Sixteen Kingdoms, Han Zhao, who claimed to be a legitimate successor of the Han Dynasty, gave Liu Shan the posthumous name Emperor Xiaohuai ( 孝懷皇帝 ; literally " the filial and kind emperor ").

A Shi Zhan was mentioned to have died in battle when Shi Hu was defeated by Han Zhao's emperor Liu Yao in 328, but it is not clear whether this Shi Zhan was Shi Min's father.

The Han Kitab was widely read and approved of by later Chinese Muslims such as Ma Qixi, Ma Fuxiang, and Hu Songshan.

With what were believed to be stern messages sent by President Hu Jintao, Han led a municipal task force to crack down on the corruption in Shanghai, and has since then been believed to be a Hu loyalist.

There are also four enforcers named Wang Zhao ( 王朝 ), Ma Han ( 馬漢 ), Zhang Long ( 張龍 ), and Zhao Hu ( 趙虎 ).

Hu Shih was among the scholars who used the textual study of Dream of the Red Chamber and other vernacular fiction as the basic for the national language.

The same sources tell that when the Xiongnu noted down something or transmitted a message, they made cuts on a piece of wood ( ko-mu ), and they also mention a " Hu script ".

Guo Hu, head of the Beijing Municipal Meteorological Bureau ( BMB ), confirmed the success of the operation with 100 millimeters falling in Baoding City of Hebei Province, to the southwest and Beijing's Fangshan District recording a rainfall of 25 millimeters.

The term Wu Hu meaning the " Five Hu " was first used in the Shiliuguo Chunqiu ( 501-522 ), which recorded the history of the five tribes ravaging Northern China from the early fourth century to the mid fifth century.

During the Cultural Revolution ( 1966 – 1976 ), Hu was purged, recalled, and purged again, following the political career of Deng.

On 15 April 2010 ( the 21st anniversary of Hu's death ), Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao wrote an article in the People's Daily titled " Recalling Hu Yaobang when I return to Xingyi ".

After the Xianbei migrated from the northeast to the northwest to found the Tuyühu Kingdom ( 284 – 670 ), they were referred to as " Qiang Hu ", to whom term " Tanghut " was referred.

Hu Shih (, 17 December 1891 – 24 February 1962 ), born Simen () and originally wrote under Hu Hung-hsing () with the courtesy name Xijiang (), was a Chinese philosopher, essayist and diplomat.

Hu Shih himself translated it into Chinese as, literally meaning experimentalism, since he strived to study both academic and social problems in the scientific approach ( in the general sense ), and advocated cultural reform under the guidance of pragmatism.

In Penang, Malaysia, the Penang Philomatic Union had its premises at 120 Armenian Street in 1910, during the time when Sun spent more than four months in Penang, convened the historic " Penang Conference " to launch the fundraising campaign for the Huanghuagang Uprising and founded the Kwong Wah Yit Poh ; this house, which has been preserved as the Sun Yat Sen Museum Penang ( formerly called the Sun Yat Sen Penang Base ), was visited by President designate Hu Jintao in 2002.

Having the approval from the Cai Yuanpei, the Chancellor of the Peking University, Chen collected the writings of the students which he appreciated most, which especially included Li Dazhao ( 李大釗 ), Hu Shih ( 胡適 ), Lu Xun ( 鲁迅 ) and Qian Yuan ( 錢沅 ).
