Among China's most famous Afro-Asian natives are Shanghai born Lou Jing who, in 2009, was subjected to public racist attacks as she rose to fame competing on popular reality TV show Dragon TV's Go Oriental Angel, and half Chinese and half South African volleyball player Ding Hui.

Influenced by his time in Japan, Chen founded the Anhui Patriotic Association ( 安徽愛國會 ) in 1903 and the Yuewang Hui ( 岳王會 ) in 1905.

Many of them, such as Chen Ran ( 陈然 ), Wei Hui ( 卫慧 ), Wang Anyi ( 王安忆 ), and Hong Ying ( 虹影 ), explore female subjectivity in a radically changing society.

Xuanzang ( Sanskrit: ह ् व े नस ां ग ) ( c. 596 or 602 – 664 ), born Chen Hui () or Chen Yi (), was a Chinese Buddhist monk, scholar, traveler, and translator who described the interaction between China and India in the early Tang Dynasty.

The officials, including Chen Ping and Zhou Bo ( 周勃 ), who would later overthrow the Lü clan after the deaths of both Emperor Hui and Empress Dowager Lü, claimed that Emperor Hui had no sons — but that Empress Zhang, at Empress Dowager Lü's instigation, stole eight boys from other people, put their mothers to death, and made the children her own.

As the Shanghai newspaper Wen Hui Pao remarked, Chen ran everything " from the hotel to the night-soil business.

Late in the day, Chen Zhun ( 陳準 ), who secretly supported Sima Yun, persuaded Emperor Hui to give him a banner that showed imperial support and was able to deliver it to Sima Yun, but his messenger, a friend of Sima Lun's son Sima Qian ( 司馬虔 ), instead tricked Sima Yun into receiving the banner and, as he did, cut off his head.

Whilst there, Mr. Chen Jun-Pu, an overseas Chinese resident in Burma, donated five Jade statues of Buddha to Hui Gen, who transported two of them back to Jiang-wan, Shanghai.

Other herbals include Pen Ts ' ao Fa Hui in 1450 by Hsu Yung and Pen Ts ' ao Kangmu of Li Shi Chen in 1590.
