* As a Shia, the early Muslims whom Khomeini looked to were Ali ibn Abī Tālib and Husayn ibn Ali, not Caliphs Abu Bakr, Omar or Uthman.

According to Ali ibn al-Athir, a Kurdish historian of the 12th century, Charlemagne received the envoys of Sulayman al-Arabi, Husayn, and Abu Taur at the Diet of Paderborn in 777.

In particular, Shia Islamic plays revolved around the shaheed ( martyrdom ) of Ali's sons Hasan ibn Ali and Husayn ibn Ali.

The Conquest of Mecca while overwhelming for the Umayyads for the time being, further fueled their hatred towards the Hashmites ; this would later result in battles between Muawiyah I and Ali and then killing of Husayn ibn Ali along with his family and a few friends on the orders of Yazid ibn Muawiyah at the Battle of Karbala.

This was through her marriage to Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad, the prophet of Islam.

Interestingly, Sakina, or Sakina bint Husayn, was also the name of the youngest female child of Husayn ibn Ali, ostensibly the first girl in recorded history to be given the name.

On 22 May, 1844 Mullá Husayn of Boshruyeh in Khorasan, a prominent disciple of Siyyid Kázim, entered Shiraz following the instruction by his master to search for the promised Qa ' im.

According to Mulla Husayn, the Shaykhi leader, Sayyid Kazim, instructed his followers to spread out in search of the Qa ' im.

There, on the 22nd of May, 1844, he encountered the Báb, who declared to Mulla Husayn that he was the expected Qa ' im.

* 909: Sa ' id ibn Husayn, with the help of his chief missionary-commander Abdullah ibn Husayn Al-Shi ' i overthrows the Aghlabids and founds the Fatimid rule in North Africa at which time he changes his title to Imam Ubayd Allah al-Mahdi Billah.

Following Babur's death in 1457 and the subsequent invasion of Khurasan by the Timurid ruler of Samarkand, Abu Sa ' id, Husayn adopted the life of a mercenary.

Six weeks later, however, Husayn reoccupied the city, after raising a fresh force and defeating the sons of Abu Sa ' id who were attempting to advance into Khurasan.

He was killed by Abu Sa ' id Mirza the ruler of Timurid Empire and took possession of Badakhshan, which after his death fell to his son, Sultan Mahmud, who had three sons, Baysinghar Mirza, Ali Mirza and Khan Mirza.

The other three are still featured in compiled video clips, in order of appearance, Muhammad Sa ' id Ali Hasan, Abd al-Rahim, and Khalid Ibn Muhammad al-Juhani.
