During his early meetings with Mullá Husayn, the Báb described himself as the Master and the Promised One ; he did not consider himself just Siyyid Kazim's successor, but claimed a prophetic status, with a sense of deputyship delegated to him not just from the Hidden Imam, but from Divine authority ; His early texts, such as the Commentary on the Surih of Joseph, used Quranic language that implied divine authority and identified himself effectively with the Imam.

It has also been narrated from Ja ‘ far as-Sādiq, the 6th Imām, that Imām ‘ Alī Mosque is the third of five holy places: Makkah, Madīnah, Imām ‘ Alī Mosque in Najaf, Imam Husayn Shrine in Karbalā, and the Shrine for Fātimah-daughter of Mūsā al-Kādhim in Qom.

: Within a compass of two hundred pages it proclaims unequivocally the existence and oneness of a personal God, unknowable, inaccessible, the source of all Revelation, eternal, omniscient, omnipresent and almighty ; asserts the relativity of religious truth and the continuity of Divine Revelation ; affirms the unity of the Prophets, the universality of their Message, the identity of their fundamental teachings, the sanctity of their scriptures, and the twofold character of their stations ; denounces the blindness and perversity of the divines and doctors of every age ; cites and elucidates the allegorical passages of the New Testament, the abstruse verses of the Qur ' án, and the cryptic Muhammadan traditions which have bred those age-long misunderstandings, doubts and animosities that have sundered and kept apart the followers of the world's leading religious systems ; enumerates the essential prerequisites for the attainment by every true seeker of the object of his quest ; demonstrates the validity, the sublimity and significance of the Báb's Revelation ; acclaims the heroism and detachment of His disciples ; foreshadows, and prophesies the world-wide triumph of the Revelation promised to the people of the Bayán ; upholds the purity and innocence of the Virgin Mary ; glorifies the Imams of the Faith of Muhammad ; celebrates the martyrdom, and lauds the spiritual sovereignty, of the Imam Husayn ; unfolds the meaning of such symbolic terms as " Return ," " Resurrection ," " Seal of the Prophets " and " Day of Judgment "; adumbrates and distinguishes between the three stages of Divine Revelation ; and expatiates, in glowing terms, upon the glories and wonders of the " City of God ," renewed, at fixed intervals, by the dispensation of Providence, for the guidance, the benefit and salvation of all mankind.

Upon his death he was laid to rest near the tomb of Imam Husayn in Karbala.

That the revolution replaced the monarchy and Shah Pahlavi with Islamism and Khomeini, rather than another leader and ideology, is credited in part to the spread of the Shia version of the Islamic revival that opposed Westernization, saw Ayatollah Khomeini as following in the footsteps of the beloved Shi ' a Imam Husayn ibn Ali, and the Shah in those of Husayn's foe, the hated tyrant Yazid I.

In 1802, the First Saudi State under his rule demolished the tombs of Ali bin Abu Talib in Najaf, Iraq and Imam Husayn in Karbala, Iraq because Salafis ( Wahhabis ) oppose the practice of building monuments over graves.

According to the Shia, Husayn had gained the third Imam for a period of ten years after the death of his brother Hassan in 669.

The Dai, in 448 ( A. H ) discovered the place of Raas al Imam al Husayn.

He also prepared a wooden minbar ( pulpit ) and placed it in the mosque, where Raas al Imam al Husayn was buried.

This minbar bears the historical account which is engraved in Arabi Fatemi Kufic script about the Raas al Imam al Husayn.

The W ’ ali of the city of Ashkelon, Al Amir Sayf al Mamlaka Tamim along with the custodian of the Mashhad, Qazi Mohammad bin Miskin, took out the buried casket of Raas al Imam al Husayn from the Mashhad, and with due respect and great reverence, on Sunday 8 Jumada al-Thani, 548 ( 31 August 1153 ) carried the head from the city of Ashkelon to Qahera, Egypt.

Hence even after Shahadat, Al-Abbas ibn Ali paid his tribute to Husayn and presented his own Maqsurah for Raas ( head ) al Imam al Husain.

The Shia regard Husayn as an Imam ( which is considered as a divine spiritual leader appointed by God ) and a martyr.

Husayn, born in 626 AD, was the third Shia Imam.

He is the son of Imam ‘ Alī ibn Husayn " Zayn al-Abidīn ".

Shi ' as however, believe that the real grave of Ali is found within Imam Ali Mosque in Najaf, Iraq, as was disclosed by the Sixth Twelver Shi ' a Imam, Ja ' far as-Sadiq.

On April 10, 2003 Sayyid Abdul Majid al-Khoei the son of Sayyid Abul-Qassim Al-Khoei was stabbed to death outside the Imam Ali Mosque by an angry mob.

The city is also home to the al-Askari Mosque, containing the mausoleums of the Ali al-Hadi and Hasan al-Askari, the tenth and eleventh Shia Imams, respectively, as well as the shrine of Muhammad al-Mahdi, known as the " Hidden Imam ", who is the twelfth and final Imam of the Shia of the Ja ' farī Madhhab.

The provincial capital is the city of Karbala, a holy city for Shi ' ah Muslims, which houses the shrine of Imam Hussein ( AS ), a greatly revered figure in Shia Islam.
