IIT Kanpur was established by an Act of Parliament in 1959.

Under the guidance of economist John Kenneth Galbraith, IIT Kanpur was the first institute in India to offer Computer Science education.

Mies settled in Chicago, Illinois where he was appointed head of the architecture school at Chicago's Armour Institute of Technology ( later renamed Illinois Institute of Technology – IIT ).

IIT was formed in 1940 by the merger of Armour Institute of Technology ( founded in 1890 ) and Lewis Institute ( founded in 1895 ).

However, it was a proposal from Lewis's chairman Alex Bailey to Armour President Henry Townley Heald and Board Chair James Cunningham that would lead to the birth of IIT.

During the 1950s and 1960s, the nickname was actually more prevalent than " IIT.

The closest high-rise, Stateway Gardens, was located just south of the IIT campus boundary, the last building of which was demolished in 2006.

With a bequest from IIT alumnus and financier Harold Leonard Stuart the IIT Stuart School of Business was established in 1969.

Moffett Campus was donated to IIT by CPC International Inc. in 1988.

By 1990, the IIT campus was encircled by high-rise housing projects rife with crime.

The campus, roughly bounded between 31st and 35th streets, Michigan Avenue and the Dan Ryan Expressway, was designed by modernist architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, " one of the great figures of 20th-century architecture ", who chaired the IIT School of Architecture from 1938 to 1958.

Van der Rohe's master plan for the IIT campus was one of the most ambitious projects he ever conceived and the campus, with twenty of his works, is the greatest concentration of his buildings in the world.

" The campus was landscaped by van der Rohe's close colleague at IIT, Alfred Caldwell, " the last representative of the Prairie School of landscape architects.

By the late 1960s, campus addition projects were given to SOM's Myron Goldsmith, who had worked with Mies during his education at IIT and thus was able to design several new buildings to harmonize well with the original campus.

The IIT Main Campus was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

IIT Bombay was the second IIT to be established in 1958 with assistance from UNESCO and with funds contributed by the Soviet Union.

Internationally, IIT Bombay was ranked by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings of 2011-12, at 301 – 350.

Internationally, IIT Roorkee was ranked 401 – 450 in general category and 194 in Engineering and Technology in the QS World University Rankings of 2011 and 65 in the QS Asian University Rankings of 2012.

Internationally, IIT Guwahati was ranked 551 – 600 in the QS World University Rankings of 2011 and 89 in the QS Asian University Rankings of 2012.

After high school, Gupta ranked 15th in the nation in the entrance exam for the Indian Institutes of Technology, IIT JEE.

IIT Roorkee has 18 academic departments covering engineering, applied sciences, humanities & social sciences, and management programs, 1 academic centres, 4 supporting service centres and a large number of research centers.

In 1893, Armour donated $ 1 million to found the Armour Institute of Technology ( a privately endowed coeducational college ), which merged with the Lewis Institute to become Illinois Institute of Technology ( IIT ) in 1940.

The Quality Council of India ( QCI ) has accredited four schools & mdash KV No. 1 Uppal ( Hyderabad ) KV Hebbal ( Bangalore ), KV Sector-8 RK Puram ( New Delhi ) and KV IIT Powai ( Mumbai ) & mdash and the accreditation of KV Ganeshkhind ( Pune ), KV Aliganj ( Lucknow ), KV Ballygunge ( Kolkata ) and KV Khanapara is in process.

Illinois Institute of Technology, commonly called Illinois Tech or IIT, is a private Ph. D .- granting university located in Chicago, Illinois, with programs in engineering, science, psychology, architecture, business, communications, industrial technology, information technology, design, and law.

Bolstered by a $ 120 million gift in the mid-1990s from IIT alumnus Robert Pritzker, former chairman of IIT's Board of Trustees, and Robert Galvin, former chairman of the board and former Motorola executive, the university has benefited from a revitalization.

SGA is the governing student body of IIT and acts as a liaison between the university administration and the student body, serves as a forum to express student opinion, and provides certain services to student organizations such as official recognition and distribution of funds.

Established in 1847, it was given university status in 1949 and in 2001 was converted into an Indian Institutes of Technology ( IIT ), thus becoming the seventh IIT to be declared.

Before being converted into an IIT, the university selected students through the Roorkee Entrance Exam ( REE ) conducted on an All-India level.

In 1990, IIT presented Galvin with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree, and in 1996, he received the university ’ s Henry Heald Award.

The SAC is maintained and managed by the Students ' Gymkhana at IIT Kanpur with the President, Students ' Gymkhana being the warden of the SAC.

Significant changes under autonomy are the setting up of Distance Education Programmes ( DEP ) with IIT Bombay, with VJTI being a Remote Centre ; as also the modernization of the Library to a digital library.

It is also the site of education and research hubs of the city, being adjacent to the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras ( IIT ), Patrician College of Arts and Science, KRMM college of arts and science, Anna University, MGR Medical University, Madras School of Economics, Cancer Institute and the renowned Guindy Children's Park. Anna Centenary Library, India's largest hi-tech library, is located here.

The highlights of the edition was world's longest paper footbridge being constructed by the students of IIT Madras, as a part of the Spirit Of Engineering projects.

Emigrants did succeed, however, in spreading the concepts of the Bauhaus to other countries, including the “ New Bauhaus ” of Chicago: Mies decided to emigrate to the United States for the directorship of the School of Architecture at the Armour Institute ( now IIT ) in Chicago and to seek building commissions.

His early projects at the IIT campus, and for developer Herb Greenwald, opened the eyes of Americans to a style that seemed a natural progression of the almost forgotten nineteenth century Chicago School style.

His significant projects in the U. S. include in Chicago and the area: the residential towers of 860 – 880 Lake Shore Dr, the Chicago Federal Center complex, the Farnsworth House, Crown Hall and other structures at IIT ; and the Seagram Building in New York.

In 1994, the National Commission on IIT considered leaving the Mies Main Campus and moving to the Chicago suburbs.

The IIT main campus is centered around 33rd and State Streets, approximately south of the Chicago Loop in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago, part of the Douglas community area.

In September 2007, IIT opened a nine-hole disc golf course which weaves around the academic buildings on the Main Campus and is the first disc golf course to appear within the Chicago city limits.

The college then moved to an improvised campus in the Chicago suburb of Waukegan, remaining there until 2006, when it moved to the campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology ( IIT ) in the Bronzeville neighborhood in the Douglas community area of Chicago.

He obtained his Masters in Electrical Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology ( IIT ) in Chicago, IL in 1978 and began work on his Ph. D.

Before coming to IIT in 1986, he taught at the University of Illinois at Chicago, at Illinois State University, and at Case Western Reserve University.
