Davros is a character from the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who.

Cast in the role of Davros was Michael Wisher, who had previously appeared in several different roles on Doctor Who and had provided Dalek voices in the serials Frontier in Space, Planet of the Daleks and Death to the Daleks.

During Doctor Who Confidential Russell T Davies explained how he believes Davros to have survived the Crucible's destruction in some way, not specifically showing his death for this reason.

Doctor Who Magazine printed several comics stories involving Davros.

Speaking with the Emperor, the Doctor addresses him as Davros, but the Emperor responds " Who is Davros?

Paul Cornell's dark vignette in the Doctor Who Magazine Brief Encounters series, " An Incident Concerning the Bombardment of the Phobos Colony " occurs sometime between " Resurrection of the Daleks " and his assumption of the role of Emperor.

The fictional Doctor Who character Melanie Jane Bush lived at 36 Down View before joining him ( Business Unusual )-this is a fictitious address, but perfectly possible as both the North and South Downs can be seen from Pease Pottage.

The Doctor himself moves in a fictitious five-dimensional setting ( The Space Museum, 1964 ), and perhaps a six-dimensional setting ( Inferno, 1970 ).

In " The Last of the Time Lords ", when the Master is fatally wounded, he chooses not to regenerate, essentially committing suicide rather than regenerate and be kept prisoner by the Doctor forever.

The Master is supposed to have died during the events of " Last of the Time Lords "; shortly after having his plans of universal conquest foiled by the Doctor and his companion Martha Jones, the Master was shot by his human wife Lucy Saxon.

* In the Doctor Who episodes " The Sound of Drums ", " Last of the Time Lords ", " The Poison Sky " and " The Stolen Earth ", the UNIT airborne aircraft carrier Valiant bears a close resemblance to Cloudbase.

On television he appeared as a guest performer on The Morecambe and Wise Show ( 1977 ), alongside Richard Briers in a series of Ben Travers farces for the BBC, as the pompous Dr Maxwell in the ITV comedy Doctor at Large ( 1971 ), and as Redvers Bodkin, a snooty, old-fashioned butler in the short-lived sitcom The Last of the Baskets ( 1971 – 72 ).

Before the Doctor destroyed Gallifrey, however, Rassilon attempted to break Gallifrey out of the time lock that blocked the Last Great Time War from temporal manipulation, placing a drumming beat in the mind of the Master when the Master gazed into the Time Vortex through the Untempered Schism as a child ( and thus making Rassilon ultimately responsible for the Master's evil ).

Rassilon went to kill the Doctor in revenge, but was badly hurt by a vengeful Master, learning the truth that his life was manipulated by the president, as Rassilon, the other Time Lords, and Gallifrey were all sent directly back into the Time Lock and the last day of the Last Great Time War.
