# John of Lusignan, died young 1197 – 1205

Rather than negotiating some form of compensation, John treated Hugh " with contempt "; this resulted in a Lusignan uprising that was promptly crushed by John, who also intervened to suppress Raoul in Normandy.

Leo was the son of John of Lusignan ( Constable and Regent of Armenia ) and his wife ( or, more probably, mistress ) Soldane, daughter of George V of Georgia.

William was the only son of John de Warenne, 6th Earl of Surrey ( himself son of Maud Marshal by her second marriage ) and his wife Alice de Lusignan ( d. 1356 ), half-sister of Henry III of England.

Valence was a half brother of Henry III of England ; his mother was Isabella of Angoulême, the second wife of King John, his father was Hugh X of Lusignan, the count of La Marche, whom Isabelle married in 1220.

He was the fourth son of Isabella of Angoulême, widow of king John of England, and her second husband, Hugh X of Lusignan, Count of La Marche, and was thus a half-brother to Henry III of England, and uncle to Edward I. William was born at Valence, near Lusignan, sometime in the mid-to-late 1220s ( his elder sister, Alice was born 1224, and two elder brothers followed her ).

Jean d ' Arras, perhaps the same, wrote, at the request of John, duke of Berry he says in his introduction, a long prose romance variously called the Roman de Mélusine or the Chronique de Melusine part of Le Noble Hystoire de Lusignan (" The Noble History of the Lusignans "), written in 1392-94.

At the news of the emperor's death, his son and co-emperor John was murdered by his own troops in Thrace.

John crossed over into Normandy and his forces soon captured Arthur, and in 1203, the young man disappeared, with most people believing that John had Arthur murdered.

He was on the way to suppress a revolt in Swabia when he was murdered on 1 May 1308, at Windisch on the Reuss River, by his nephew Duke John, afterwards called " the Parricide " or " John Parricida ", whom he had deprived of his inheritance.
