Jones, Litt. D., and H. A.

On television, the actor Freddie Jones portrayed Claudius in the 1968 British television series The Caesars while the 1985 made-for-television miniseries A. D. features actor Richard Kiley as Claudius.

He surrounded Donald Duck and nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie with a cast of eccentric and colorful characters, such as the aforementioned Scrooge McDuck, the wealthiest duck in the world ; Gladstone Gander, Donald's obscenely lucky cousin ; inventor Gyro Gearloose ; the persistent Beagle Boys ; the sorceress Magica De Spell ; Scrooge's rivals Flintheart Glomgold and John D. Rockerduck ; Daisy's nieces April, May and June ; Donald's neighbor Jones, and The Junior Woodchucks organization.

Tong and Jones formed a new group called The Shining, which initially included former Stone Roses guitarist John Squire ; however Squire left the band before recording and touring had begun.

Tong appeared as a live replacement for ex-guitarist Graham Coxon in Blur, and as additional guitarist for Gorillaz ( both Jones and Tong played guitar for Demon Days Live ).

Ashcroft attended Up Holland High School, along with future bandmates Simon Jones, Peter Salisbury and Simon Tong, and then attended Winstanley College, where he met Nick McCabe.

More recent work includes his involvement in the project The Good, the Bad & the Queen in 2007 with Damon Albarn, Simon Tong and Tony Allen and the Gorillaz album, Plastic Beach in 2010, which along with Albarn saw him reunite with Mick Jones.
