On 4 October 1954, Trevor-Roper married Lady Alexandra Henrietta Louisa Howard-Johnston ( 9 March 1907 – 15 August 1997 ), eldest daughter of Field Marshal the Earl Haig by his wife, the former Hon.

The Castle contains a variety of paintings, including portraits by Alexis Simon Belle of Queen Mary of Modena and her daughter Princess Louisa Maria., Lady Edeline Sackville who was later to marry Lord Strickland.

Through elaborate arrangements that allowed Merrick to board a train unseen and have an entire carriage to himself, he travelled to Northamptonshire to stay at Fawsley Hall, the estate of Lady Louisa Knightley.

His first wife died on 20 June 1743 at Hanover, and in April 1744 he married Lady Sophia Fermor, daughter of Lord Pomfret and Henrietta Louisa Fermor — a fashionable beauty and " reigning toast " of London society, who was younger than his daughters.

He married Lady Catherine Caroline Montagu ( 1808 – 1833 ), daughter of George Montagu, 6th Earl of Sandwich and Lady Louisa Mary Anne Julia Harriet Lowry-Corry, on 1 December 1831.

One of their daughters, the Lady Katherine Louisa Phipps, married the 3rd Earl of Ellesmere.

After Lady Harriet's death in July 1815 he married secondly Lady Louisa, daughter of Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, in 1816.

Ronald Ferguson was the second son of Andrew Henry Ferguson ( 1899 – 1966 ) and his wife Lady Marian Louisa Montagu Douglas Scott ( 1908 – 1996 ), a first cousin of Lady Alice Montagu Douglas Scott, who became ( after her wedding to Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester ) Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester and an aunt-by-marriage of Elizabeth II.

His grandfather was Lieutenant-Colonel Lord Herbert Montagu Douglas Scott, son of Sir William Montagu Douglas Scott, 6th Duke of Buccleuch and Lady Louisa Jane Hamilton.

Bradley had two sons and five daughters ; of these children one son, Arthur Granville Bradley ( 1850 – 1943 ), and four daughters were writers, including Margaret Louisa Woods, Emily Tennyson Bradley ( married Alexander Murray Smith ), Lady Mabel Birchenough ( the wife of Sir Henry Birchenough, public servant and business man ) and Rose Marion Bradley.

So is also the statue of the girlish Lady Louisa Russell, represented as standing on tiptoe and cradling a dove in her bosom.

He was born at Sudbury, Derbyshire, a younger son of Edward Vernon-Harcourt, Archbishop of York and his wife Lady Anne Leveson-Gower, who was a daughter of Granville Leveson-Gower, 1st Marquess of Stafford and his second wife Lady Louisa Egerton.

The earliest written reference to crochet refers to slip stitch crochet | shepherd's knitting from The Memoirs of a Highland Lady by Elizabeth Grant ( 1797 – 1830 ) in the 19th century.

Her half-brother, Edward VI, bequeathed the crown to Lady Jane Grey, cutting his two half-sisters, Elizabeth and the Catholic Mary, out of the succession in spite of statute law to the contrary.

By the autumn of 1537, Elizabeth was in the care of Blanche Herbert, Lady Troy who remained her Lady Mistress until her retirement in late 1545 or early 1546.

His will swept aside the Succession to the Crown Act 1543, excluded both Mary and Elizabeth from the succession, and instead declared as his heir Lady Jane Grey, granddaughter of Henry VIII's sister Mary, Duchess of Suffolk.

The wedding was deferred until Anne was 15 and finally took place along with that of Lady Elizabeth Hastings and Lord Herbert, on 16 December 1571 at Whitehall, with the Queen in attendance.

Protracted negotiations to arrange a match between his daughter Elizabeth and the Earl of Southhampton did not result in marriage ; in 19 November 1594, six weeks after Southampton turned 21, ' the young Earl of Southampton, refusing the Lady Vere, payeth £ 5000 of present money '.

Aberdeen married firstly Lady Catherine Elizabeth ( 1784 – 1812 ), daughter of John Hamilton, 1st Marquess of Abercorn, and assumed by Royal license the additional surname of Hamilton in 1818.

They had two children, Lady Emily Elizabeth Bulwer-Lytton ( 1828 – 1848 ), and ( Edward ) Robert Lytton Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Earl of Lytton ( 1831 – 1891 ) who became Governor-General and Viceroy of British India ( 1876 – 1880 ).

His friends could find no public office for him, and a scheme for retrieving his position by a marriage with the wealthy and young widow Lady Elizabeth Hatton failed after she broke off their relationship upon accepting marriage to a wealthier man.

In 1805, he married Lady Catherine Elizabeth, daughter of John Hamilton, 1st Marquess of Abercorn.

Lord Aberdeen married Lady Catherine Elizabeth, daughter of Lord Abercorn, in 1805.

In 1828 Severn married Elizabeth Montgomerie, the natural daughter of Archibald, Lord Montgomerie ( 1773 – 1814 ) and the ward of Lady Westmoreland, one of the artist's patrons in Rome.

However, in January of 1524 Cardinal Thomas Wolsey broke the betrothal, Anne was sent back home to Hever Castle, and Percy was married to Lady Mary Talbot, to whom he had been betrothed since adolescence.

Adjacent to the castle, Lady Jane Percy, Duchess of Northumberland, has initiated the establishment of The Alnwick Garden, a formal garden set around a cascading fountain.

Features of the interior include columns of Purbeck Marble, stiff-leaf carving, and the tomb of Lady Eleanor Percy, dating from around 1340 and covered with a richly-decorated canopy, regarded as one of the best surviving examples of Gothic art.

He and Lady Winifrede helped to establish the musical events and singing contests at which their friend Percy Grainger collected a number of early folk-songs from the singing of Joseph Taylor of Saxby-All-Saints '.

He married Lady Elizabeth Percy daughter of Algernon Percy, 10th Earl of Northumberland, by whom, he had an only son Algernon ( 1670 – 1710 ), who succeeded him as the 2nd Earl of Essex and a daughter, Anne, who married Charles Howard, 3rd Earl of Carlisle.

In December 1489 Henry VII accepted £ 4000 from the estate of Henry Percy, 4th Earl of Northumberland for Buckingham's hand for the earl's eldest daughter, Lady Alianore ( Eleanor ) Percy.

Walter and Lettice had three children, a son Robert and two daughters, Penelope Devereux, Lady Rich and Dorothy Percy, Countess of Northumberland.

He was born in Raby Castle, County Durham, England, the son of John Neville, 3rd Baron Neville de Raby by Lady Maud Percy.
