Another contemporary example involves the municipalities of Lake Buena Vista and Bay Lake, Florida.

( The City of Reedy Creek was renamed to the City of Lake Buena Vista around 1970.

In the 2000 census, Bay Lake had 23 residents, all in the community on the north shore of Bay Lake, and Lake Buena Vista had 16 residents, all in the community about a mile north of Downtown Disney.

The District headquarters are in a building in Lake Buena Vista, east of Downtown Disney.

However, the idea of EPCOT was instrumental in prompting the state of Florida to create the Reedy Creek Improvement District ( RCID ) and the Cities of Bay Lake and Reedy Creek ( soon renamed Lake Buena Vista ), a legislative mechanism which allows the Walt Disney Company to exercise governmental powers over Walt Disney World.

Because the idea of EPCOT was never implemented, the Disney Corporation remained almost the sole landowner in the district allowing it to maintain control of the RCID and the cities of Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista ; Disney further cemented this control by deannexing Celebration from the RCID.

Kern County was nearly named Buena Vista County for the large, and now drained, Buena Vista Lake between Bakersfield and Taft.

The ' Central Valley Grassland ' is the Nearctic temperate and subtropical grasslands, savannas, and shrublands ecoregion which was once a diverse grassland containing areas of desert grassland ( at the southern end ), prairie, savanna, riverside woodland, marsh, several types of seasonal vernal pool, large lakes such as now-dry Tulare Lake, the largest lake in the United States west of the Mississippi, Buena Vista Lake and Kern Lake.

The USOEC has more residential athletes than the Lake Placid and Chula Vista sites combined.
