Lamb shank definitions vary, but generally include:

* Lamb shank is a cut of meat from the upper part of the leg.

Examples include Edward Elgar's Great is the Lord ( 1912 ) and Give unto the Lord ( 1914 ) ( both with orchestral accompaniment ), Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb ( 1943 ) ( a modern example of a multi-movement anthem and today heard mainly as a concert piece ), and, on a much smaller scale, Ralph Vaughan Williams ' O taste and see ( 1952 ) ( written for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II ).

John's theology of chastity has been replaced by the editor's theology of outright celibacy, which makes little sense when John's true church is symbolised as a bride of the Lamb.

In this view, the Lamb of God references and other hallmarks of Revelation are linked to what is known of John the Baptist, though it must be confessed that little information about him is known.

" 19: 7-8 Christ is represented throughout Revelation as “ the Lamb ,” symbolizing the giving of his life as an atoning sacrifice for the people of the world, just as lambs were sacrificed on the altar for the sins of Israel.

In the end, according to Revelation, the Lamb and his armies are victorious and the Beast, generally identified as the Antichrist, is captured and thrown into the lake of fire, while his battle casualties are left as food for the birds.

" 21: 2 In the New Jerusalem, God " will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God .." 21: 4 As a result, there is “ no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple .” Nor is there a need for the sun to give its light, “ for the glory of God illuminated it, and the Lamb is its light.

" Saying with a loud voice: The Lamb that was slain is worthy to receive power, and divinity, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and benediction.

This effect is now called Lamb shift.

Charles Lamb, poet and friend of Coleridge, witnessed Coleridge's work towards publishing the poem and wrote to Wordsworth: " Coleridge is printing Xtabel by Lord Byron's recommendation to Murray, with what he calls a vision of Kubla Khan – which said vision he repeats so enchantingly that it irradiates & brings Heaven & Elysian bowers into my parlour while he sings or says it ".

The portion of the loaf that is cut out along this seal is the Lamb ( Host ), from which all are communicated, and therefore must be proportionately large for the number of communicants.

The square portion occupied by this stamp, the " Lamb ", is cut out before the Divine Liturgy during the preparatory rite and is the only part consecrated during the Epiclesis.

In the part of the Divine Liturgy ( Eucharist ) known as the Liturgy of Preparation ( Proskomedia ) a cube is cut from the center of the prosphoron, and is referred to as the Lamb ( Greek: Amnon ).

When a diskos is made, it is usually accompanied by a matching asterisk ( small, folding metal stand used to keep the Aër from disturbing the particles on the diskos ), a spoon ( for distributing Holy Communion to the faithful ), and a spear ( used to cut the Lamb during the Liturgy of Preparation ).

At Holy Communion, the clergy partake of their portions of the Lamb directly from the diskos, but for the Communion of the faithful, the remainder of the Lamb is cut into small portions and placed in the chalice, from which the priest distributes Communion using the spoon.
