In Greek mythology, Isocrates, in his witty declamation Busiris recounts " the false tale of Heracles and Busiris " ( 11. 30 – 11. 40 ), which was a comic subject represented almost entirely in the repertory of early 5th century BC Athenian vase-painters: the theme has a narrow narrative range, according to Niall Livingstone: Heracles being led to sacrifice ; his escape ; the killing of Busiris ; the rout of his entourage.

David Livingstone was born on 19 March 1813 in the mill town of Blantyre, in a tenement building for the workers of a cotton factory on the banks of the Clyde River under the bridge crossing into Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Crane's first signed publication was an article on the explorer Henry M. Stanley's famous quest to find the English missionary David Livingstone in Africa.

From 2001 to 2008 he was chief advisor on architecture and urbanism to Mayor of London Ken Livingstone ; he was subsequently asked to continue his role as an advisor by new mayor Boris Johnson in 2008.

After the Portuguese arrival in the area in the 16th century, the next significant Western contact was the arrival of David Livingstone along the shore of Lake Malawi in 1859.
