Majlis and Perbandaran
Kajang is governed by the Majlis Perbandaran Kajang.
With the declaration of Shah Alam as the state capital by the Sultan of Selangor at the time, the Majlis Perbandaran Shah Alam ( MPSA ) or Shah Alam Municipal Council was formed in accordance to the Local Government Act 1976.
