In the alternate future depicted in Marvel 2099, an alien attack floods much of the earth rendering the Savage Land the only inhabitable space.

* In 1992, Marvel Comics released several future-based comic book series as part of its Marvel 2099 line.

* In 1996, Marvel Comics and DC Comics teamed up to create Amalgam Comics it released several future-based comic book series called Legion of Galactic Guardians 2099

This was followed by a 2007 update series, All-New Official Handbook Of The Marvel Universe A-Z: Update, the first issue of which ( January 2007 ) features an updated biography of Mark Hazzard: Merc, Quasar, and Spider-Man 2099.

Marvel 2099 is a Marvel Comics imprint, started in 1992, that explores one possible future of the Marvel Universe.

This later changed to a line of books under the banner Marvel 2093 ( the date being one hundred years from the year in which the titles launched ) before finally being published as Marvel 2099.

Fans requested further titles, and Marvel provided X-Men 2099.

As sales began to flag on all titles besides Spider-Man and X-Men, Marvel commissioned ideas from various writers, including a proposal by Grant Morrison and Mark Millar, before accepting Warren Ellis's idea that Doom 2099, revealed to be, in fact, Victor Von Doom, would take over the United States.

In 1996, when Marvel, during a cost-cutting exercise, fired Cavalieri, many of the 2099 creators ( including Peter David and Warren Ellis ) quit the line in protest.

Around this time, Doom 2099 became the only 2099 comic to crossover with a present-day Marvel comic when he traveled back to 1996 and met Daredevil, the Fantastic Four, and Namor in a story partially told in Fantastic Four # 413.

The 2099 world has been seen occasionally since, most notably in Peter David's " Future Tense " storyline in Captain Marvel, which revisited both Spider-Man 2099 and the alternate future of the Maestro that David created in The Incredible Hulk: Future Imperfect, explaining a plot point which had been left dangling since David had abruptly left Spider-Man 2099.

However, these later X-Men issues failed to attract sales and Marvel stopped producing new stories with issue # 66, later reprinting a number of the older comics as issues # 67 – 93.

Dennis the Menace has been published in comic books and comic digests from the 1950s through the 1980s by a variety of publishers, including Standard / Pines ( 1953 – 58 ), Fawcett Comics ( 1958 – 80, during their only return to comics after losing the Captain Marvel lawsuit ), and Marvel Comics ( 1981 – 82 ).

In October 1981 Marvel UK began publishing Blake's 7 – A Marvel Monthly, which included a comic strip by Ian Kennedy as well as text stories, features and photographs.

* Set or Father Set, a fictional deity in the Conan adventure novels by Robert E. Howard and their Marvel Comics interpretation

Set in the aftermath of issue 75 of the original Marvel Comic, where Optimus Prime died defeating Unicron, a bio presented in " Games of Deception " told that as events unfolded to their conclusion in the comics, culminating in the Decepticon ambush on Klo, the humans trapped along with the Last Autobot realised that while the Autobots needed help, the planet also needed help to recover.

Set is the name of a fictional demon-god within the continuities of Conan the Barbarian and Marvel Universe.

Set was shown visually for the first time in Marvel Feature, Vol. 1 # 6 ( May 1976 ), a Red Sonja story which was set in the same world as Conan.

However, this iteration of " Set " is still a definite part of Marvel continuity.

He was first mentioned in an official " Marvel Universe " comic in Sub-Mariner # 9 ( January, 1969-which predates the first Conan comics ), in which the Sub-Mariner is controlled by the Serpent Crown, a device which Set can use to influence people's minds.

Thomas's " Set " was clearly inspired by Howard's use of the character, and Thomas would later be instrumental in integrating the character into the history of the Marvel Universe ( along with the Conan stories and other elements of Howard's work ).

Set remains an important part of Marvel Universe canon today.

Though Set has rarely appeared in the comics, it is credited with playing a pivotal role in the development of life on Earth in the Marvel Universe.

In the Marvel Comics Universe all subsequent iterations of Set ( such as the Egyptian Set and Greek Learnean Hydra mentioned above ) are said to be legends largely inspired by the original ancient serpent god Set.

There was also En Sabah Nur (" Apocalypse "), a mutant who, when he first emerged in ancient Egypt, was mistaken for Set ( or perhaps the above " Seth ", though probably both as they are all parts of the same legend in the Marvel Universe ).
