* Mendocino Woodlands State Park

The Mendocino Woodlands State Park is a group camping facility located at 39350 Little Lake Road, Mendocino County, California, seven miles ( 11 km ) inland from the town of Mendocino.

Mendocino Woodlands consists of approximately of land along the Little North Fork of the Big River, and is surrounded to the north, east, and west by the 50, 000 acre ( 200 km² ) Jackson Demonstration State Forest.

Mendocino Woodlands was one of forty-six campgrounds ( including Camp David ) created by the Works Progress Administration and the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.

Like the other campgrounds, Mendocino Woodlands was originally planned as a site for youth summer camps in which the participants would be introduced to the wonders of nature.

However, Mendocino Woodlands is the only one of the campgrounds that has been continuously used for public camping.

In 1997, the Mendocino Woodlands Recreation Demonstration Area was designated as a National Historic Landmark.

The Mendocino Woodlands State Park is managed by Mendocino Woodlands Camp Association, a nonprofit corporation that has operated and maintained the facilities at the park since 1949.

Two areas managed by the Mendocino National Forest are outside the contiguous boundaries and they are the Genetic Research Center in Chico, California, and the Lake Red Bluff Recreation Area in central California.

In 1992, the California Coastal Conservancy purchased the Gardens and transferred them to the Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District.

As the county seat, the city is a home to regional government offices, including the California Highway Patrol, California Department of Motor Vehicles, the United States Bureau of Reclamation and the main offices of the Mendocino National Forest, which comprises about one million acres of Federal land located mostly in mountainous terrain west of Willows.

He developed the first operational Air Tanker for firefighting for the Mendocino National Forest, later used by the California Department of Forestry and other firefighting agencies across the country.

Most of the town was added to the National Register of Historic Places listings in Mendocino County, California in 1971 as the Mendocino and Headlands Historic District.

The Mendocino National Forest is located in the Coastal Mountain Range in northwestern California and comprises 913, 306 acres ( 3, 696 km < sup > 2 </ sup >).

This legislation, entitled " Northern California Coastal Wild Heritage Wilderness Act ," added areas to both the Yolla Bolly-Middle Eel Wilderness and Snow Mountain Wilderness, and established the two new wilderness areas in the Mendocino National Forest.

* Competing in the men's division III club level bracket, the Mendocino Steam Donkeys rugby union team, based in the Ukiah area are the first official NCRFU team in the county.

The Mendocino County official soils survey states that " While not formally recognized as a major forest cover type, the coastal portion of the survey area also includes Bishop Pine and Mendocino Cypress ( pygmy ) forest types ".

The mountains are within the acquisition area for the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, which operates several parks, including Santa Clarita Woodlands Park, Rocky Peak Park, Joughin Open Space Preserve, Happy Camp Canyon Park, and other Santa Susana parks in the Santa Susana Mountains through the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority.

The southern and central Coast Ranges, including the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles region, comprise California's Mediterranean Forests, Woodlands, and Scrub ecoregions.

In 1928, the Herdsman Lake Suburban Area was gazetted adjacent to the lake, covering parts of what are now Churchlands and Woodlands as well as the modern suburb of Herdsman.

The less developed, eastern part of Alton Baker Park is known as the Wilhamut Natural Area and links to Springfield's Eastgate Woodlands via bicycle paths and open space.

The deep gorges which define its northern and southern edges are designated as a part of the Coedydd Nedd a Mellte ( Neath & Mellte Woodlands ) Special Area of Conservation ( SAC ) on account of their thick oak and ash woodlands, which shelter important bryophyte communities, in particular certain species of moss.

Surveys of woodlands of County Kilkenny include A Woodland Survey of Kilkenny, undertaken in 1997 to identify woodlands in the county and A survey of broadleaved woodlands in three special Areas of Conservation, Barrow-Nore, River Unshin and Lough Forbes ( 2000 ) which covers some of County Kilkenny, and National Survey of Native Woodlands ( NSNW ) 2003-2008 which was one of the largest ecological surveys to be completed in Ireland and did its fieldwork in the county in 2003.

The Falls of Clyde Site of Special Scientific Interest ( formerly the Corehouse Nature Reserve ), a part of the Clyde Valley Woodlands National Nature Reserve, is an area of mixed woodland, including semi-natural native oakwoods and some areas of conifer plantation.

Its powers include defining Ancient Woodlands, awarding grants, designating Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Sites of Special Scientific Interest, managing certain National Nature Reserves, overseeing access to open country and other recreation rights, and enforcing the associated regulations.
