On November 8, 1952, Richard scored his 325th goal to overtake Nels Stewart and become the all-time leading goal scorer in NHL history.

Pell's former campaign manager and close friend Raymond Nels Nelson, himself an openly gay man, was brutally murdered in Washington D. C in 1981 in a still unsolved murder.

In 1985, the Museum of Broadcasting in New York City presented a retrospective of Mama by arranging screenings of several of the live television broadcasts ( 1949 – 56 ) which had been donated by various sources, as well as a seminar featuring the actors who played the Hansen children — Rosemary Rice ( Katrin ) and Dick Van Patten ( Nels ) and longtime director, Ralph Nelson.

Hall of Famer Nels Stewart was Kennedy's coach and mentor and played a major role early in his career. Back home, Kennedy played with the Port Colborne Sailors of the OHA Sr. league for the 1942 – 43 hockey season.

When Hooley Smith arrived in Montreal in 1926 – 27, Siebert was paired with Smith and Nels Stewart.

The Maroons won game one 2 – 0, with Nels Stewart and goaltender Clint Benedict the stars.

Bill Cook scored, putting the Rangers ahead 1 – 0, but Nels Stewart was not to be denied and scored, tying the game.
