In October 1967, the British group Nirvana released The Story of Simon Simopath ( subtitled " A Science Fiction Pantomime "), an album that tells the story of the title character.

The resulting album, MTV Unplugged in New York, served as a swan song for Nirvana, as Cobain died 138 days after the concert.

According to the band's official website, this was intended as part of a tongue-in-cheek album called Nirvana Sings Nirvana that was aborted when Cobain died.

" Rainbow Chaser " was one of the few Nirvana recordings that had any connection with " psychedelic " music, although " Orange and Blue " ( 1970 ) was acknowledged to have been written under the influence of LSD according to the liner notes of the eponymous album.

Top musicians who played on Nirvana sessions include: Lesley Duncan, Herbie Flowers, Billy Bremner ( later of Rockpile / Dave Edmunds fame ), Luther Grosvenor, Clem Cattini and the full lineup of rock band Spooky Tooth, Pete Kelly ( Keyboards ) who also co-wrote ' Modus Operandi ' on the ' Local Anaesthetic ' album.

* Me And My Friend 1974 Patrick Campbell-Lyons's first solo album, when released on CD, most of the tracks of Songs of Love and Praise were also included and it was marketed as a Nirvana album.

In 1991, Nirvana emerged from Washington State's grunge scene, achieving huge commercial success with its second album, Nevermind.

" Another example of this bias was that the album Nevermind, by grunge band Nirvana, was given three stars in its original review, despite being placed at No. 17 in " The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time " list in 2003.

The 1980s also saw the birth of the grunge genre, with the arrival of such bands as Soundgarden, Green River, Melvins, Screaming Trees, Malfunkshun, Skin Yard, The U-Men, Blood Circus, Nirvana, Tad, Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone and Alice in Chains ( who formed in 1987, but did not release their first album until three years later ).

Nirvana's follow-up album In Utero ( 1993 ) was an intentionally abrasive album that Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic described as a " wild aggressive sound, a true alternative record.

After Nirvana ended, Novoselic formed Sweet 75 and then Eyes Adrift, releasing one album with each band.

Nirvana covered the Shocking Blue song " Love Buzz " as their debut single in 1988, and it also appeared on their 1989 album Bleach.

Another song featured on the album was " 20 Years in the Dakota ", which discussed Yoko Ono's struggles as John Lennon's wife, a position which Love herself has been frequently compared to, due to the perception that Ono drew Lennon away from The Beatles and that Love drew Cobain away from Nirvana.

His first album, Ball-Hog or Tugboat ?, featured appearances from dozens of musicians ( many were Watt's peers from the 1980s SST era ), including Henry Rollins, Eddie Vedder, J Mascis, Carla Bozulich, Evan Dando, members of Sonic Youth, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Frank Black, Nirvana, Soul Asylum, Jane's Addiction, the Beastie Boys and the Screaming Trees.

The album and its supporting tour were Watt's first taste of mainstream fame, when Vedder and Dave Grohl of Nirvana were part of his touring group.

These regarded issues such as whether the universe is eternal or non-eternal ( or whether it is finite or infinite ), the unity or separation of the body and the self, the complete inexistence of a person after Nirvana and death, and others.

While the GUU's focus is mainly towards people involved in sports and debates ( as among its founders were the Athletic Association and Dialectic Society ), the QM is one of Glasgow's premier music venues, and has played host to Nirvana, Biffy Clyro and Franz Ferdinand.

Numan has become acknowledged and respected by his peers, with such musicians as Dave Grohl ( of Foo Fighters and Nirvana ), Trent Reznor ( of Nine Inch Nails ), and Marilyn Manson proclaiming his work an influence and recording cover versions of old Numan hits.

For instance, Śūnyatā ( emptiness ), unlike " nothingness ", is considered to be a state of mind in some forms of Buddhism ( see Nirvana, mu, and Bodhi ).

But after eating the last Nirvana leaf, Junior shrinks to fraggle size, sees the realm from their point of view ( including a consultation with the Trash Heap ), and upon regaining his Gorg stature, invites his Fraggle friends to his coronation, at which time he immediately abolishes the Gorg's monarchy, introducing a Fraggle-like society where all creatures are socially equal.

In 1995, former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl's new band, the Foo Fighters, helped popularize the genre and define its parameters, becoming one of the most commercially successful rock bands in the US, aided by considerable airplay on MTV.
