Harveyville is home to the Harveyville Project, an Artist Residency and Sculpture Garden.

Fullman has been the recipient of numerous awards, commissions and residencies including: a McKnight Visiting Composer Residency from American Composers Forum ( 2010 ), Artist-In-Residence, Headlands Center for the Arts ( 2008 ); Center for Cultural Innovation Investing in Artists Grant ( 2008 ); Japan / U. S. Friendship Commission / NEA Fellowship for Japan ( 2007 ); DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program residency ( 2000 ); Artist Trust / Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship ( 1999 ); and Meet the Composer, Reader's Digest Consortium Commission ( 1993 ).

The Artist Residency Program, established in the mid 1990s, was initiated to alleviate the implications of the decline in public funding to artists.

Through the Artist Residency Program, Art in General established the Eastern European Residency Exchange ( EERE ) in 2001, a two-way exchange program which enables selected artists to create work in a new environment, and to meet and interact with art communities in Eastern Europe and New York City.

On 12 September, 2009 the Polynesian Panthers held a special evening in Auckland to honour American Black Panther revolutionary artist Emory Douglas during his International Artist in Residency at Auckland University's Elam Art School.

SCM has received numerous awards and grants and residencies, including a Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation Artist in Communities Grant ( 2006 ), a Roman J Witt Visiting Artist Fellowship at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and an Artist Residency at Caribbean Contemporary Art in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
