Jurong is the largest town in the western part of Singapore, consisting of 7 residential precincts ( Nanyang, Hong Kah, Yuhua, Taman Jurong, Boon Lay, Gek Poh, Pioneer ), 14 industrial districts ( Jurong Port, Jurong Pier, Jurong Hill, Lok Yang, Joo Koon, Gul, Benoi, Pioneer Sector, Toh Tuck, International Business Park, Kian Teck, Chin Bee, Penjuru, Jurong Island ), 1 military zone ( Pasir Laba ) and 1 Waterfront district ( Jurong Lake ).

After the general election in 2001, a large part of the former Pasir Ris Central Division and the Pasir Ris-Loyang Division came together as Pasir Ris East with Zainal Sapari as the Member of Parliament since 2011.

Pasir Ris is also part of the Jurong Town Corporation's plan to develop wafer fabrication facilities in Singapore.

The station is located at the central part of Pasir Ris New Town.

In 2006, the junior college moved back to Potong Pasir to form part of St. Andrew's Village.

The original part of this expressway started at the end of Tampines Road near Lorong Halus and continued eastward to join the PIE, and mainly served Tampines and Pasir Ris.

Pasir Panjang is an area in the south-western part of Singapore.

The Battle of Pasir Panjang, which took place between 13 and 14 February 1942, was part of the final stage of the Empire of Japan's invasion of Singapore during World War II.

13, 000 Japanese troops had made an amphibious landing in the northwest part of Singapore near Sarimbun ( see Battle of Sarimbun Beach ), and had started to advance south towards Pasir Panjang.

It is connected by the 4 lane Pasir Gudang Highway, a trunk road, and a railway line to Johor Bahru.

On 17 October 2011, at about 8. 36am, a train heading from Labrador Park Station to Pasir Panjang Station experienced a train fault and had to be taken out of service.

On 25 March 2006, a man was killed by an east-bound train in the direction of Pasir Ris as he went down to retrieve his shoe.

Pasir Ris MRT Station was one of the many above ground stations built in the past with no platform screen doors to prevent commuters from falling into the train tracks.

A man in his 20s was said that he had jumped onto the track at Tanah Merah station and was hit by a train heading towards Pasir Ris.

Bus service 21 was the first to receive the buses, where ten were put into service serving between Saint Michael's Bus Terminal and Pasir Ris Interchange on 27 June 2006, with an official launch ceremony held at Pasir Ris Interchange on 26 June 2006.

Train service at Pasir Ris MRT station was delayed twice during morning peak hours on March 8, 2012 due to signalling faults on the track near the station.

In 1986, the old Singapore Police Force Pasir Panjang Police Sub-station was vacated after almost 4 decades of service, its duty and areas of jurisdiction taken over by Pasir Panjang NPP and West Coast NPP respectively.

Pasir Gudang Kite Museum is located here, on top of Kite Hill.

There has been conjecture that perhaps this is a contraction of Pasir Hiris ( pasir is " sand " and hiris means " to shred " in Malay ).

In proximity to the sea, Pasir Ris has several recreation areas like the NTUC Downtown East, which have facilities like chalets, theme parks, a bowling alley, a park for pets and pet owners and Pasir Ris Park.

The current PAP candidate, Sitoh Yih Pin, has much support from the party, although the last PAP candidate, Andy Gan, failed in his bid to wrangle Potong Pasir from Chiam in the general election in 1997, even with the support the PAP gave him.

Pasir Gudang has one golf course, the Tanjung Puteri Golf Resort.

The coastal area at Pasir Panjang has also been extensively reclaimed for the Pasir Panjang Terminal of the Port of Singapore.

Since the building of the West Coast Highway, Pasir Panjang Road has become a secondary road which now has less traffic.

The state of Johor currently already has developed ports including Pasir Gudang and Tanjong Pelapas.

The school has broken a record of 1, 950 students doodling a single squiggle from Dr Teo Chee Hean ( Member of Parliament Of Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC ) at the same day, same time and same duration of hours. It lasted 1 hour which is from 8. 30 am-9. 30 am (+ 8 GMT ) and it was held on Tuesday, 14 September 2010.

Turtle tracks, nests, eggs, and egg shells have been recorded during patrol surveys conducted during specified periods, not only in Bintan but also in the Pasir Pasan beach.

Elections in Potong Pasir have always been hotly contested as the ruling People's Action Party ( PAP ) seeks to unseat Mr Chiam.

Pasir Ris was the first eastern terminus station of the East West Line, installed with Rite Hite Revolution High Volume, Low Speed ( HVLS ) fans and have been operating since 9 July 2012.

The road passes through many developments built over a long period, ranging from some intact Malay kampong houses which were displaced from the Kallang Basin area in the 1930s ( many of which have since been demolished ), numerous villas, modern apartment and condominiums, Tiger Balm Gardens ( now Haw Par Villa ), The Haven ( now the Salvation Army Pasir Panjang Corps ) and Pasir Panjang Park.

Established in 1918, Pasir Gudang, which was formerly known as Kampung Pasir Udang, was founded by Long Abu who is believed to have originated from Riau, Indonesia.

The name Pasir Gudang originated from the existence of a sand mine at Kampung Ulu.
