In 232, Sun Quan had another misadventure involving his navy — as he sent his generals Zhou He ( 周賀 ) and Pei Qian ( 裴濳 ) to the nominal Wei vassal Gongsun Yuan, in control of Liaodong Commandery ( present-day central Liaoning ), to purchase horses, against the advice of Yu Fan-and indeed, he exiled Yu Fan to the desolate Cangwu Commandery ( roughly modern Wuzhou, Guangxi ) as punishment.

Just as Yu Fan predicted, however, the venture would end in failure — as Zhou He and Pei Qian, on their way back, were intercepted by Wei forces and killed.

Empress Jia was now in control in close association with several advisors that she trusted — the capable official Zhang Hua, her cousins Pei Wei ( 裴頠 ) and Jia Mo ( 賈模 ), and her nephew Jia Mi ( 賈謐 — originally named Han Mi but posthumously adopted into the line of Jia Chong's son Jia Limin ( 賈黎民 )).

The Wangchuan ji by Wang Wei and Pei Di which describes the landscape features of Wang's estate near Chang ' an particularly shows the influence of Xie Lingyun's poetry describing the landscape features of his estate near West Lake.

Although the use of the graduated scale and grid reference for maps was not thoroughly described until the published work of Pei Xiu ( 224 – 271 CE ), there is evidence that in the early 2nd century CE, cartographer Zhang Heng was the first to use scales and grids for maps.

In China, Pei Xiu ( 224 – 271 ) identified " measuring right angles and acute angles " as the fifth of his six principles for accurate map-making, necessary to accurately establish distances ; while Liu Hui ( c. 263 ) gives a version of the calculation above, for measuring perpendicular distances to inaccessible places.

Liu Bei ( Wade-Giles spelling: Liu Pei ; ; 161 – 10 June 223 ), also known by his style name Liu Xuande ( Wade-Giles spelling: Liu Hsuan-te ), was a warlord, military general and later the founding emperor of the state of Shu Han during the Three Kingdoms era of Chinese history.

What is also known is that during Chu – Han Contention, when Liu Bang fought a five-year war with Xiang Yu for supremacy over the Chinese world, his mother, his sister, and he did not initially follow his father to the Principality of Han ( modern Sichuan, Chongqing, and southern Shaanxi ); rather, they stayed in his father's home territory, perhaps in his home town of Pei ( 沛縣, in modern Xuzhou, Jiangsu ) deep in Xiang's Principality of Western Chu, presumably with his grandfather Liu Zhijia.

In 1972, three other buildings were erected, thus creating the Commerce Court complex: glass and stainless steel glass curtain wall international Style Commerce Court West designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners ( the tallest building in the complex, at 57 storeys, and the tallest building in Canada from 1972 – 1976 ), Originally, Commerce Court West 57 was an observation floor.

The roof is a large glass and steel construction, while the exterior and interior walls and floor are made of a warm beige-colored limestone from France – the same material used by Pei in the reception hall of the Louvre.
