The offences created by this statute were replaced by section 13 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828.

Section 13 of the 1828 Act was replaced by section 6 of the Offences against the Person Act 1837.

The Act was repealed by section 1 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828 ( 9 Geo. 4 c. 31 ) and by section 125 of the Criminal Law ( India ) Act 1828 ( c. 74 ).

It was replaced by section 15 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828, and section 63 of the Criminal Law ( India ) Act 1828, which provided that buggery would continue to be a capital offence.

In England and Wales, petty treason ceased to be a distinct offence from murder by virtue of the Offences against the Person Act 1828.

This section replaces section 4 of the Offences against the Person Act 1837, which in turn replaced section 12 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828, which in turn replaced section 1 of Lord Ellenborough's Act ( 1803 ).

Section 16 repealed parts of sections 4 and 5 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828 ( which in turn replaced an Act of Henry VIII ) which provided that the bodies of murderers were to be hung in chains or dissected after execution.

It ceased to be an offence in England and Wales when petty treason was abolished by the Offences against the Person Act 1828.

Section 60 of the Offences against the Person Act 1861 is framed on section 14 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828 ( which applied to England, including Wales and Berwick ) and section 17 of the 10 Geo 4 c 34 ( which applied to Ireland ).

Section 31 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828 made provision in relation to any person who should counsel, aid or abet the commission of, amongst other things, a misdemeanour under section 14.

It is essentially a revised version of an earlier consolidation Act, the Offences against the Person Act 1828 ( and the equivalent Irish Act ), incorporating subsequent statutes.

This section replaced the corresponding provision in section 3 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828 ( 9 Geo 4 c 31 ) and section 4 of the corresponding Irish Act ( 10 Geo 4 c 34 ).

Section 7 replaced section 10 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828.

Section 8 replaced section 2 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828.

Sections 9 and 10 respectively replace sections 7 and 8 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828.

This section was derived from the corresponding provision in section 26 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828, and replaced both that provision and section 2 of the 14 & 15 Vict c 92 ( which applied to Ireland ).

The words in square brackets in the text of section 39 above are different to those in section 26 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828.

This section was derived from and replaced the corresponding provision in section 26 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828.

It was a revised version of section 16 of the Offences against the Person Act 1828, incorporating the non-textual amendments made to that section by section 3 of the Substitution of Punishments of Death Act 1841 ( 4 & 5 Vict c 56 ) and section 2 of the Penal Servitude Act 1857.
