From 1781 to 1787, Prince Frederick lived in Hanover, where he studied ( along with his younger brothers, Prince Edward, Prince Ernest, Prince Augustus and Prince Adolphus ) at the University of Göttingen.

As a director of the Ancient Concerts, Harcourt entertained his fellow-directors ( the prince regent and Prince Adolphus – the Duke of Cambridge, the Duke of Cumberland ( later Ernest Augustus I of Hanover ), and the Duke of Wellington ) at his house in Grosvenor Square on 23 February 1821.

The title was next given, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, to Prince Adolphus, the seventh son of George III.

In 1900, he succeeded his father as Duke of Teck in the Kingdom of Württemberg.

Through her maternal grandfather Francis Remnant, Miles claims to be the great-granddaughter of Prince Francis of Teck ( 1870 – 1910 ) and thus a second cousin once removed of Elizabeth II of Great Britain.

Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester ( née Alice Christabel Montagu Douglas Scott ; 25 December 1901 – 29 October 2004 ) was a member of the British Royal Family, the wife and then widow of Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, the third son of George V and Mary of Teck.

His mother was Mary of Teck, the only daughter of Prince Francis, Duke of Teck and Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge.
