Between 1892, when Harvard and Yale met in the first intercollegiate debate, and 1909, the year of the first Triangular Debate of Harvard, Yale, and Princeton, the rhetoric, symbolism, and metaphors used in athletics were used to frame these early debates.

It oversees subsidiary groups such as the International Relations Council ( IRC ), Princeton's Model Congress ( PMC ), Princeton Debate Panel ( PDP ), Princeton Mock Trial ( PMT ).

Whig-Clio continues to be the center of Campus debate, sponsoring the Princeton Debate Panel and Princeton Mock Trial Association, both of which have won distinctions of high caliber over the years, as well as the International Relations Council, Model Congress, and Woodrow Wilson Honorary Debating Panel.

The Princeton Debate Panel is one of the world's top intercollegiate debating societies, and competes regularly against teams such as the Oxford Union, the Cambridge Union Society, and the Hart House Debating Club.

The Princeton Debate Panel's annual collegiate tournament is named in his honor.

The Woodrow Wilson Honorary Debate Panel ( WWHDP ) sponsors and promotes prize debates at Princeton University.

He also led the American Whig-Cliosophic Society's Debate Panel during his time at Princeton.

While at Princeton, he competed for the American Whig-Cliosophic Society's Debate Panel as one of North America's top-ranked parliamentary debaters, winning the top speaker award at both the 1992 U. S. National Debating Championship and the 1992 North American Debating Championship.

He was active in the undergraduate American Whig-Cliosophic Society literary and debating society, serving as speaker of the Whig Party and writing for the Nassau Literary Review, organized a separate Liberal Debating Society, and later coached the Whig-Clio Debate Panel.
