* February 6 – The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II marks the 60th anniversary of her accession to the thrones of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and the 60th anniversary of her becoming Head of the Commonwealth.

Likewise it can be seen as consistent with Queen Victoria's regime, the apex of which is often seen as her Diamond Jubilee.

Celebrations took place to mark Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee in 2012, the first such event in Canada since 1897, when Victoria marked her 60th year on the throne.

The barrier was closed on 3 June 2012 to reduce the river flow whilst the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant took place as part of the celebrations for the Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Charles, Prince of Wales publicly addressed his mother Queen Elizabeth II as " Mummy " on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee.
