The Rock Ridge Interchange Protocol ( RRIP, IEEE P1282 ) is an extension to the ISO 9660 volume format, commonly used on CDROM and DVD media, which adds POSIX file system semantics.

The RRIP extensions are built upon a related standard System Use Sharing Protocol ( SUSP, IEEE P1281 ).

The idea behind SUSP was that it would enable any number of independent extensions to ISO 9660 ( not just RRIP ) to be created and included on a volume without conflicting.

Note that the Apple ISO 9660 Extensions do not technically follow the SUSP standard ; however the basic structure of the AA and AB fields defined by Apple are forward compatible with SUSP ; so that, with care, a volume can use both Apple extensions as well as RRIP extensions.

Amiga Rock Ridge is similar to RRIP, except it provides additional properties used by the Amiga operating system.

Thus both Amiga Rock Ridge and the POSIX RRIP may be used simultaneously on the same volume.

In June 2006, the VHDL Technical Committee of Accellera ( delegated by IEEE to work on the next update of the standard ) approved so called Draft 3. 0 of VHDL-2006.

Standards that describe SPEKE include IEEE P1363. 2 and ISO / IEC Draft 11770-4.

The symbol for bit, as a unit of information, is either simply " bit " ( recommended by the ISO / IEC standard 80000-13 ( 2008 )) or lowercase " b " ( recommended by the IEEE 1541 Standard ( 2002 )).

However, since the 1990s, the most commonly encountered representation is that defined by the IEEE 754 Standard.

Today, the most widely recognized standards for this mechanical structure are IEEE 1101. 1, IEEE 1101. 10 ( also known commonly as " dot ten ") and IEEE 1101. 11.

IEEE 1101. 10 covers the additional mechanical and EMI features required for VITA 1. 1-1997 ( R2002 ) which is the VME64 Extensions standard as well as PICMG 2. 0 ( R3. 0 ) which is the CompactPCI specification.

For example, a fixed-point representation that has seven decimal digits with two decimal places can represent the numbers 12345. 67, 123. 45, 1. 23 and so on, whereas a floating-point representation ( such as the IEEE 754 decimal32 format ) with seven decimal digits could in addition represent 1. 234567, 123456. 7, 0. 00001234567, 1234567000000000, and so on.

When this is stored using the IEEE 754 encoding, this becomes the significand s with e = 1 ( where s is assumed to have a binary point to the right of the first bit ) after a left-adjustment ( or normalization ) during which leading or trailing zeros are truncated should there be any.

802. 3 is a technology that supports the IEEE 802. 1 network architecture.

IEEE standard 1076. 1 ( known as VHDL-AMS ) provided analog and mixed-signal circuit design extensions.

The 2008 version of the IEEE 754 standard says that < tt > pow ( 1, qNaN )</ tt > and < tt > pow ( qNaN, 0 )</ tt > should both return 1 since they return 1 whatever else is used instead of quiet NaN.

The two organizations formally merged as the IEEE on January 1, 1963.

Section 6. 3. 1 IEEE Copyright Policies – subsections 7 and 8 – states that " all authors … shall transfer to the IEEE in writing any copyright they hold for their individual papers ", but that the IEEE will grant the authors permission to make copies and use the papers they originally authored, so long as such use is permitted by the Board of Directors.

IEEE publications have received a Green rating the from SHERPA / RoMEO guide for affirming " authors and / or their companies shall have the right to post their IEEE-copyrighted material on their own servers without permission " ( IEEE Publication Policy 8. 1. 9. D ).
