Further international success came in the UK and Europe with their third and fourth albums, Woodface and Together Alone and the compilation album Recurring Dream, which included the hits " Fall at Your Feet ", " Weather with You ", " Distant Sun ", " Locked Out ", " Instinct " and " Not the Girl You Think You Are ".

In June 1996, at a press conference to announce the release of their greatest hits album Recurring Dream, Neil revealed that Crowded House were to disband.

Recurring Dream contained four songs from each of the band's studio albums, along with three new songs.

In May 1999 Crowded House issued a compilation of unreleased songs, Afterglow, which included the track " Recurring Dream ", recorded when the group were still called The Mullanes and included Craig Hooper on guitar.

After releasing four albums, Crowded House, Temple of Low Men, Woodface, and Together Alone, the group broke up in 1996, and followed this action by releasing a greatest hits album Recurring Dream.

In 1996, when Crowded House split up and released their greatest hits album Recurring Dream, frontman Neil Finn approached Griggs to put together a collection of the band's greatest live performances, to append selected copies of Recurring Dream.

One song, " Recurring Dream ", was not used on the album as Hooper had contributed to the songwriting.

A re-recorded version of " Recurring Dream " appears on the Crowded House compilation album Afterglow ( 1999 ).
