Born as Rinaldo di Jenne in Jenne ( now in the Province of Rome ), he was, on his mother's side, a member of the family de ' Conti di Segni, the counts of Segni, like Pope Innocent III and Pope Gregory IX.

Two others, Cencio Savelli, who was elected as Pope Honorius III in 1216, and Rinaldo Conti di Segni, elected as Pope Alexander IV in 1254, did not occupy that post at the time of their elections to the papacy ( Cencio was Camerlengo from 1188 until 1198, while Rinaldo from 1227 until 1231 ).

In 1992, Franks was elected to the U. S. House of Representatives ( succeeding Matt Rinaldo ), and served four terms in the House from 1993 to 2001.

Rinaldo was elected as a Republican to the 93rd and to the nine succeeding U. S. Congresses ( January 3, 1973 – January 3, 1993 ).

Pope Gregory IX ( c. 1145 / 70 – 22 August 1241 ), born Ugolino di Conti, was pope from 19 March 1227 until his death.

Like Pope Innocent III ( 1198 – 1216 ), Pope Gregory IX ( 1227 – 1241 ) and Pope Alexander IV ( 1254 – 1261 ), he was a member of the family of the Conti, counts and dukes of Segni.

Before his death he had urged the College of Cardinals to elect Giovanni di San Paolo as his successor, but Lotario de ' Conti was elected pope on the very day on which Celestine III died.

By 1135 Anacletus ' position was weak despite their aid, but the schism only ended with his death in 1138, after which Gregorio Conti as elected as Victor IV but submitted to Innocent within a month.

Forty-two votes were necessary, and heated discussion prevailed for four months ; Giovanni Cardinal Conti was supported by twenty-two votes ; Cardinal Rospigliosi, nephew of the late Pope, had thirty, or, as some say, thirty-three, with two at the accesso, so that he needed only seven more votes to gain the tiara.

The Popes Clement XI and Innocent XIII considered James and Maria Clementina the rightful and, more importantly, Catholic King and Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland: the cousin of Pope Innocent XIII, Francesco Maria Conti, from Siena, was here the Gentiluomo di Camera ( the chamberlaine ) in the little Roman Jacobite court.

She was among the society of George I and the Prince of Wales, and counted amongst her friends Molly Skerritt, Lady Walpole, John, Lord Hervey, Mary Astell, Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough, Alexander Pope, John Gay, and Abbé Antonio Conti.

1235 – September 27 / 22, 1261 ) was a daughter of Bohemund V of Antioch and his second wife, the Italian noblewoman Lucienne dei Conti di Segni, kinswoman of Pope Innocent III.

At the ceremony, Cardinal de Vendôme and the Princess of Conti acted as proxies for the godparents, Pope Clement IX and Queen Henrietta Maria of England.

It has been suggested that the man in question may have been Niccolo da Conti, who was returning from the east and is known to have met with Pope Eugenius in 1444.

The order was founded by Saint Cajetan ( Gaetano dei Conti di Tiene ), Paolo Consiglieri, Bonifacio da Colle, and Giovanni Pietro Carafa ( afterwards Pope Paul IV ).

It has also been suggested that the man " from Cathay " described to have visited Pope Eugenius IV ( 1431 – 1447 ) by Paolo Toscanelli in a 1474 letter to Christopher Columbus, may have been Niccolò de ' Conti, who was returning from the east and is known to have met with Pope Eugenius in 1444:

The family called de ' Conti produced several popes ( Innocent III, Gregory IX and Alexander IV ) and many cardinals.

Rocky IV is the only film in the series not to feature original music by Conti.

The personal influence of Henry IV had deterred Bassompierre from a marriage with Charlotte de Montmorency, daughter of the constable Montmorency, afterwards princesse de Condé, and between 1614 and 1630 he was secretly married to Louise Marguerite, widow of François, prince de Conti, and through her became implicated in the plot to overthrow Richelieu on the " Day of the Dupes " ( 1630 ).

Conti, who belonged to the older faith, appears to have taken no part in the French Wars of Religion until 1587, when his distrust of Henri of Lorraine, Duke of Guise caused him to declare against the League and to support his cousin Henri of Navarre, afterwards King Henri IV.

Before his elevation to the papacy, Sinibaldo was Vice-Chancellor of the Holy Roman Church ( 1226 – 27 ), being created Cardinal Priest of San Lorenzo in Lucina on 18 September 1227 by Pope Gregory IX, later serving as governor of the March of Ancona from 1235 until 1240.

He was the son of Count William II ( 1227 – 1256 ), who was elected King of the Romans of the Holy Roman Empire in 1248, and was slain in 1256 by Frisians when Floris was just two years old.

But after continually delaying his departure for the Holy Land, including suffering an outbreak of disease in his fleet, he was excommunicated by Pope Gregory IX in 1227.

Pope Honorius III ( 1148 – 18 March 1227 ), previously known as Cencio Savelli, was Pope from 1216 to 1227.

In the midst of it, however, Pope Honorius III died in Rome on 18 March 1227 without seeing the achievement of his hopes.

Pope Gregory IX made him a cardinal on 18 September 1227 with the cure of San Marco, and in 1228 – 29 sent him as legate in Lombardy and Tuscany, where the cities and communes had generally remained true to the Hohenstaufen emperor, Frederick II.

Pope Nicholas IV ( 30 September 1227 – 4 April 1292 ), born Girolamo Masci, was Pope from 22 February 1288 until his death.

On 29 September 1227, Frederick was excommunicated by Pope Gregory IX for failing to honor his crusading pledge.
