The first international convention for coin collectors was held 15 – 18 August 1962, in Detroit, Michigan, and was sponsored by the American Numismatic Association and the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association.

Marconi's station at Marconi Towers, on the outskirts of Glace Bay, became the chief communication center for the Royal Canadian Navy in World War I through to the early years of World War II.

Later this same year, the Royal Canadian Air Force placed an additional order for 180 T-50s.

It is still used in this form by the British Territorial Army, and the Royal Canadian Armour Corps of the Canadian Army.

In the Canadian Army, a number of regular and reserve units have cavalry roots, including The Royal Canadian Hussars ( Montreal ), the Governor General's Horse Guards, Lord Strathcona's Horse, the Royal Canadian Dragoons, and the South Alberta Light Horse.

There are three dragoon regiments in the Canadian Forces: the Royal Canadian Dragoons and two reserve regiments, the British Columbia Dragoons and the Saskatchewan Dragoons.

The Royal Canadian Dragoons is the senior Armoured regiment in the Canadian Forces.

* 1918 – The Royal Air Force is created by the merger of the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service.

The armed car was invented by Royal Page Davidson at Northwestern Military and Naval Academy in 1898 with the Davidson-Duryea gun carriage and the later Davidson Automobile Battery armored car.

From 1938 to 1945, he held a succession of positions, first becoming senior history master at Blundell's School in Tiverton, Devon in 1938 ( and also a Captain in the school's OTC ), then instructor at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth in 1939.

He passed the examination in the elements of mathematics and the theory of navigation at the Royal Naval Academy on 2 – 4 September 1816, and became a 1st Lieutenant on 1 September 1818.

On the outskirts of the town is the Royal Navy's officer training college ( Britannia Royal Naval College ), where all officers of the Royal Navy and many foreign naval officers are trained.

Gordon Onslow Ford ( 1912 – 2003 ), a leading British surrealist painter, attended the Royal Naval College.

In 1882 he entered Burney's Naval academy at Gosport, which was a ' crammer ' for boys wishing to take the entrance examinations for the Royal Navy.

Louis was home schooled for the first ten years of his life: he was then sent to Lockers Park School in Hertfordshire and on to the Royal Naval College, Osborne in May 1913.

Pursuing his interests in technological development and gadgetry, Mountbatten joined the Portsmouth Signals School in August 1924 and then went on to briefly study electronics at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich.

This was the first time in Royal Naval history that a father and son had both attained such high rank.

Alongside English convicts, they were used to build the Royal Naval Dockyard on Ireland Island.

Bond was also known by his code number, 007, and was a Royal Naval Reserve Commander.

The islands were not officially named until Captain Charles J. Johnston of the Royal Naval ship sighted them on December 14, 1807.

Britain's Royal Flying Corps ( which merged on 1 April 1918 with the Royal Naval Air Service to form the Royal Air Force ) was founded in 1912.

On 20 March 2003 the Navy SEALs launched what is the largest single SEAL operation in history from US Naval vessels, Ras al-Qulayah Naval Base and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait as part of a mixed force of US Navy SEALs, Polish GROM and British Royal Marines.

On 1 December 1975, the 347th Tactical Fighter Wing ( 347 TFW ), a unit of the Tactical Air Command ( TAC ), relocated to Moody from Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand.

The first mission was flown from Udorn Royal Thai Air Base by three C-130 A Model aircraft from the 41st Tactical Airlift Squadron, Naha AB, Okinawa, Japan.

Dawson College was first based at the Royal Canadian Air Force Base, St. Jean ( now Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu ), Quebec, in the Montérégie ( later the location of Le Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean ).

It is the site of the present Royal New Zealand Air Force Museum, but RNZAF Base Wigram has now closed.

On their side, the United States flew four B-26 Invader bombers from Taiwan into Takhli Royal Thai Air Force Base, poised to strike into Laos.

On 1 April, the USAF set up Waterpump, which was a pilot training program in Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base to supply Lao pilots for the Royal Laotian Air Force.

It consisted of 38 Air Commandos and four T-28D trainers stationed at Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base.

In May 1971, the RLAF base at Pakse was threatened by communist troops, so its T-28s were moved back into Thailand to Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base.

Udon is one of the more bustling markets for agricultural goods in the relatively dry northeast of Thailand, and received its biggest economic boost in the 1960s when the US built the Udon Royal Thai Air Force Base as a joint-force military base during the Vietnam War.

The city became a bustling support center for the nearby Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base during the Vietnam War and so retains reminders of that time, with bars coffee shops and hotels.

The suburb hosts the Devonport Naval Base of the Royal New Zealand Navy, the main facility for the country's naval vessels, but is best known for its harbourside dining and drinking establishments and its heritage charm.

On the southern shore, to the west of the centre of Devonport, a nearby deep water anchorage suitable for Royal Navy vessels, the Devonport Naval Base was established.
