Mitropoulos, known for championing new composers and obscure operas-in-concert, pioneered in other ways ; adding live Philharmonic performances between movies at the Roxy Theatre and taking Edward R. Murrow and the See It Now television audience on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Orchestra.

President Harry S. Truman presented her with the Women's National Press Club trophy Award for outstanding accomplishment in art in 1949, and in 1951 she appeared on See It Now, a television program hosted by Edward R. Murrow.

Mike Read appeared as himself, hosting an episode of " Top Of The Pops ", in " It's Only Rock and Roll " and Jonathan Ross appeared as himself in " If They Could See Us Now ".

In film, she was featured vocalist on King Arthur ( 2004 ), co-writing the title theme " Tell Me Now ( What You See )" with Hans Zimmer and wrote additional music score for To End All Wars ( 2001 ).

The show did not perform well against CBS ' Gambit ( later replaced by Now You See It ) and NBC dropped it after less than a year.

It was also where Sir Martin De La See led the local resistance against Edward IV's landing on 14 March 1471, as he was returning from his six months ' exile in the Netherlands.
