Graduate programs are offered through the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, School of Architecture, Shepherd School of Music, and Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies.

In 1974, two new schools were founded at Rice, the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management and the Shepherd School of Music.

Further west lies a quad surrounded by McNair Hall of the Jones Business School, the Baker Institute, and Alice Pratt Brown Hall of the Shepherd School of Music.

He is currently Professor of Piano at The Shepherd School of Music, Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Current notable professors include J. Robert Wright the St. Mark's in the Bowery Professor of Ecclesiastical History and David Hurd the Professor of Church Music and Organist of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd.

The Muir Quartet has also given master classes at schools nationwide, including the Eastman School of Music, the Curtis Institute, Oberlin Conservatory, and the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.

His theme " Listen to My Music " introduced many specialties including ‘ Opus One ’; ‘ The Champ ’; ‘ Lullaby of Birdland ’; ‘ Dragnet ’; ‘ Skin Deep ’; ‘ Hot Toddy ’ and ‘ Swingin ’ Shepherd Blues ’ and the band achieved considerable chart success in the UK and the US.
