Luang Prabang, or Louangphrabang ( Lao: ຫ ຼ ວງພຣະບາງ, literally: " Royal Buddha Image ( in the Dispelling Fear mudra )," pronounced ), is a city located in north central Laos, at the confluence of the Nam Khan river and Mekong River about 425 km north of Vientiane.

The Phra Bang (" Royal Buddha Image in the Dispelling Fear mudra )," Lao ພະ + ບາງ ) is the palladium of Laos.

Its hourglass-shaped leaves ( comprising the leaf blade plus a flattened, leaf-like leaf-stalk or petiole ) are widely used in Thai and Lao cuisine ( for dishes such as tom yum ), and Cambodian cuisine ( for the base paste " Krueng ").

Its name in Lao is Xiang Teng.

Its primary purpose was supply of military defense materials to the Royal Lao Government ; 80 % of its budget was dedicated to this purpose.

Its non-human passengers were even more bizarre on occasion ; part of the CIA's support operations in Laos, for instance, involved logistical support for local tribes fighting the North Vietnamese forces and the Pathet Lao, their local opponents.

Its broadcast immediately followed that of Zeta Gundam and continues to follow a major plotline from Zeta involving Haman Karn, regent to Mineva Lao Zabi, and also continues to follow Captain Bright Noa and the ship, Argama, as well as introducing the new characters led by Judau Ashta.

Its discovery not only has important value for the collation of existing version of “ Lao Zi ” but also has provided the earliest and most reliable basis for further studying the thoughts of “ Lao Zi ”.

She has published her own translations of the Tao Te Ching, The Book of the Way and Its Virtue by Lao Tzu, the traditional founder of Taoism ( Daoism ).

Laozi (; also romanized as Lao Tse, Lao Tu, Lao-Tsu, Laotze, Laosi, Laocius, and other variations ; fl.

( Lao: ຂ ່ າ " kha "; " kha "; Indonesian / Malay: lengkuas ( Alpinia galanga ); Mandarin: 南薑 or 高良薑 ( traditional ), 南姜 or 高良姜 ( simplified ), nán jiāng or gāo liáng jiāng ( Pinyin ) or ; Cantonese: 藍薑 laam4 goeng1 ( Jyutping ) ; Vietnamese: riềng )

The Communist government also attempted to improve the treatment of Manchu people ; some Manchu people who had hidden their ancestry during the period of KMT rule thus became more comfortable to reveal their ancestry, such as the writer Lao She, who began to include Manchu characters in his fictional works in the 1950s ( in contrast to his earlier works which had none ).

Among the major writers of the period were Guo Moruo ( 郭沫若 ) ( 1892 – 1978 ), a poet, historian, essayist, and critic ; Mao Dun ( 茅盾 ) ( 1896 – 1981 ), the first of the novelists to emerge from the " League of Left-Wing Writers " and one whose work reflected the revolutionary struggle and disillusionment of the late 1920s ; satirist and novelist Lao She ( 老舍 ) ( 1899 – 1966 ); and Ba Jin ( 巴金 ) ( 1904 – 2005 ), a novelist whose work was influenced by Ivan Turgenev and other Russian writers.

An extra day or an extra 30-day month is intercalated at regular intervals ; Thai, Lao, and Cambodian versions do not add an extra day to years with an extra month.

Places of asylum for the Lao refugees are the United States, France, Japan, Australia, Germany, Canada, Singapore, and the United Kingdom ; many also live in Argentina, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Switzerland, Burma and Brazil.

The Lao kingdom of Lan Xang Hom Khao ( lâansâang-ລ ້ ານ " million " + ຊ ້ າງ " elephant "+ " Under the White Parasol ";, Sisattanakhanahut ;, ; ) was established in 1354 by Fa Ngum.

They are the most widely spoken of the Tai – Kadai languages, and include Thai, the national language of Thailand ; Lao, the national language of Laos ; Burma's Shan language ; and Zhuang, a group of languages of southern China.

Chao Anouvong (; ; ), or regnal name Chaiya Sethathirath V (; ), ( 1767 – 1829 ), led the Laotian Rebellion ( 1826 – 1829 ) as the last monarch of the Lao Kingdom of Vientiane.

Sir John Bowring, an envoy from Great Britain, described a meeting with the deputy king ( ouparaja ) of Siam in 1855 in which his host performed on the Lao khene ; at a meeting two days later he entertained Bowring with Lao dancers and khene music.

Other works referred to within the novel itself are the writings of Lao Tzu, the Kama Sutra, the Torah, the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, Sun Tzu's The Art of War, the Tao Te Ching and, of course, the Gospels of the New Testament.

The most famous Lao artist from France is Willy Denzey, a R & B singer who started his singing career in 2001 and achieved success with his hits " Le mur du son ", " L ' Orphelin " and " Et si tu n ' existais pas " and his successful albums # 1 and Acte II.
