There are seven days of preliminary competition for Sprouts ( ages 2 – 12 ) and Seniors ( ages 13 – 21 ), followed by the semi-finals and, ultimately, the selection of a Sprout and Senior champion.

Tobin Sprout is an American artist and musician, born on April 28, 1955, he is best known for his contributions as a member of indie rock group Guided by Voices.

Their greatest hits, A Life of Surprises-The Best of Prefab Sprout, gave them their biggest US hit, " If You Don't Love Me ", which spent several weeks in the Top 10 on the dance chart.
