The house featured in the image of Kings Head St to the left, is unique in the town and is an example of a sailmaker's house, thought to have been built circa 1600. The Church of St John the Baptist dates from the 15th century and has been designated as a Grade I listed building.

The Church of St Bartholomew and Farnham Chapel is a Grade I listed building.

The 14th Century flint parish church of St Mary's is situated in the park next to the house. It is Grade B listed and contains an organ screen by William Morris.

Brockley contains several fine churches: St Mary Magdalen's RC Church, Howson Road ( completed in 1901 ), St Peter's, Wickham Rd ( completed 1870 ), the Grade II listed St Andrews, Brockley Rd ( 1882 )-originally a Presbyterian Church, which contains the modern stained glass New Cross Fire memorial window ( 2002 )-and the Grade II listed St Hilda's, Crofton Park 1908.

Perhaps the most famous rector was Dr. George H. Glasse ; he has a memorial place in his memory in St. Mary's Churchyard ( Grade II ).

At its centre is Highgate village, a collection of largely Georgian shops, pubs, restaurants and residential streets, interspersed with diverse landmarks such as St Michael's Church and steeple, Highgate School ( 1565 ), Jacksons Lane arts centre housed in a Grade II listed former church, the Gatehouse inn dating from 1670 and Berthold Lubetkin's 1930s Highpoint buildings.

Although Stoke Newington contains only one Grade I listed building ( St Matthias Church ), it contains a fair number of Grade II * buildings for one London district.

St Alban's is an Anglican church and is listed Grade II.

Barnet has two Grade I Listed buildings, both designed by Edwin Lutyens: the Church of St Jude, the parish church of Hampstead Garden Suburb with a Gothic spire and on opposite side of Central Square, the Free Church, of similar design but with a concrete dome.
