* 280 – Sun Hao of Eastern Wu surrenders to Sima Yan which began the Jin Dynasty.

Most modern styles of t ' ai chi ch ' uan trace their development to at least one of the five traditional schools: Chen, Yang, Wu ( Hao ), Wu, and Sun.

The order of popularity ( in terms of number of practitioners ) is Yang, Wu, Chen, Sun, and Wu / Hao.

Sun Hao, the emperor of Eastern Wu between 264 and 280, moved the capital back to Wuchang in 265.

Although stability is restored temporarily, the last Wu ruler Sun Hao appears to be a tyrant who does not make any efforts to strengthen his kingdom.

Sun Shao bore one son, Sun Feng ( 孫奉 ), who was executed by Sun Hao for alleged treason due to his popularity.

Xie Qi was defeated and retreated, but his subordinates Sun Zicai ( 孫子才 ) and Song Hao ( 宋豪 ) came to Lü Meng and surrendered with their families.

He instructed Deng Xuanzhi ( 鄧玄之 ), a friend of Lingling's defender Hao Pu ( 郝普 ), to tell Hao that Liu Bei was in a dire battle with Xiahou Yuan in Hanzhong, Guan Yu just lost to Sun Gui in Nan Commandery, and neither could spare men to save Lingling.

Emperor Wu faced two major military issues almost immediately — incessant harassment from the rival Eastern Wu's forces, under emperor Sun Hao, and Xianbei and Qiang rebellions in Qin ( 秦 ) and Liang ( 涼 ) provinces ( modern Gansu ).

He was particularly encouraged by reports of Sun Hao's cruelty and ineptitude in governing Eastern Wu ; indeed, the officials in favor of war against Eastern Wu often cited this as reason to act quickly, as they argued that Eastern Wu would be harder to conquer if and when Sun Hao was replaced.

In 272, the Eastern Wu general Bu Chan ( 步闡 ), in fear that Sun Hao was going to punish him on the basis of false reports against him, tried to surrender the important city of Xiling ( 西陵, in modern Yichang, Hubei ) to Jin, but Jin relief forces were stopped by the Eastern Wu general Lu Kang, who then recaptured Xiling and killed Bu.

Wang Hun, Wang Jun, and Sima Zhou each headed for Jianye, and Sun Hao was forced to surrender in spring 280.

Emperor Wǔ made Sun Hao the Marquess of Guiming.

Sun Yat-sen was declared as President, but Sun was forced to turn power over to Yuan Shikai, who commanded the New Army and was Prime Minister under the Qing government, as part of the agreement to let the last Qing monarch abdicate ( a decision Sun would later regret ).

Yuan Shikai ( 16 September 1859 – 6 June 1916 ) was an important Chinese general and politician, famous for his influence during the late Qing Dynasty, his role in the events leading up to the abdication of the last Qing Emperor of China, his autocratic rule as the second President of the Republic of China ( following Sun Yatsen ), and his short-lived attempt to revive the Chinese monarchy, with himself as the " Great Emperor of China.

Following the Chinese victory in the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Nationalist Government under Chiang Kai-shek was restored in Nanjing and the KMT set out to enact a liberal democratic Constitution in line with the last stage of Sun Yat-sen's three stages of national development.

Sun Quan did not immediately submit to Wei or declare independence after Cao Pi's enthronement, but took a wait-and-see attitude ; by contrast, in early 221, Liu Bei declared himself emperor, establishing the state of Shu Han.

In 229, Sun Quan declared himself emperor, which almost damaged the alliance with Shu, as many Shu officials saw this as a sign of betrayal of the Han Dynasty — to which Shu claimed to be the legitimate successor.

For example, in 235, when, as a sign of contempt, Wei's emperor Cao Rui offered horses to him in exchange for pearls, jade, and tortoise shells, Sun Quan ignored the implicit insult and made the exchange, reasoning that his empire needed horses much more than pearls, jade, or tortoise shells.

When Sun learned of the successful rebellion against the Qing emperor from press reports, he immediately returned to China from the United States accompanied by General Homer Lea on 21 December 1911.

Sun Quan proclaimed himself the emperor of Eastern Wu in 229, and moved the capital to Jianye.

At the same time, Cao has also been granted the title of " King of Wei " by the emperor and Sun Quan became known as the " Duke of Wu ".

Sun Ce was posthumously honored as " Prince Huan of Changsha " ( 長沙桓王 ) by his younger brother Sun Quan when the latter became the first emperor of Eastern Wu.

Born in 175, Sun Ce was the eldest among five sons and one daughter of Sun Jian, a military general loyal to the emperor of the Han Dynasty.

Xu Gong wrote to Emperor Xian, recommending the emperor to summon Sun Ce to the capital as he deemed Sun Ce to be a hero comparable to Xiang Yu and too dangerous to be allowed to occupy a territory.

When Sun Quan declared himself the first emperor of the state of Eastern Wu in 222, he bestowed upon Sun Ce the posthumous title of Prince Huan of Changsha ( 長沙桓王 ).
