Sharpe refers to correspondence between Singh and A. E. Penn who was the secretary of the Indian Swedenborgian society where Singh stated that he had contact with Swedenborg in the spirit world:

A notable example is Emanuel Swedenborg who wrote some 18 theological works which describe in detail the nature of the afterlife according to his claimed spiritual experiences, the most famous of which is Heaven and Hell.

The modern rediscovery of CSF is now credited to Emanuel Swedenborg.

In a manuscript written between 1741 and 1744, unpublished in his lifetime, Swedenborg referred to CSF as " spirituous lymph " secreted from the roof of the fourth ventricle down to the medulla oblongata and spinal cord.

It advocates the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg, the Christian revelator and theologian who gives a spiritual interpretation of the teachings of the Bible and who claims that the second coming of Jesus Christ has already taken place.

A documentary called Shining Soul: Helen Keller's Spiritual Life and Legacy was produced by the Swedenborg Foundation in the same year.

Rapp became inspired by the philosophies of Jakob Böhme, Philipp Jakob Spener, Johann Heinrich Jung, and Emanuel Swedenborg, among others, and later wrote Thoughts on the Destiny of Man, published in German in 1824 and in English a year later, in which he outlined his ideas and philosophy.

The origins of the movement can be found in Medieval astrology and alchemy, such as the writings of Paracelsus, in Renaissance interests in Hermeticism, in 18th century mysticism, such as that of Emanuel Swedenborg, and in beliefs in animal magnetism espoused by Franz Mesmer.

The first of these was Emanuel Swedenborg ( 1688 – 1772 ), a Swedish scientist who after a religious experience devoted himself to Christian mysticism, believing that he could travel to Heaven and Hell and commune with angels, demons and spirits, and who published widely on the subject of his experiences.

* In 1716 King Charles XII of Sweden asked Emanuel Swedenborg to elaborate a number system based on 64 instead of 10.

Swedenborg however argued that for people with less intelligence than the king such a big base would be too difficult and instead proposed 8 as the base.

Lewis's diverse sources for this work include the works of St. Augustine, Dante Aligheri, John Milton, John Bunyan, Emanuel Swedenborg and Lewis Carroll as well as the American science-fiction author whom Lewis mentions in his preface whose name he had forgotten.

In his Arcana Coelestia, Emanuel Swedenborg ( 1688 – 1772 ) expounds on the symbolism and underlying spiritual meaning of both Genesis and Exodus.

He read extensively on the subjects throughout his life, became a member of the paranormal research organisation " The Ghost Club " ( in 1911 ) and was especially influenced by the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg.

* The New Jerusalem and its Heavenly Doctrine According to What Has Been Heard from Heaven With an Introduction Concerning The New Heaven and the New Earth ( Swedenbog Society 1911 ; Swedenborg Foundation 1951 ) This book is one of the Writings but is included in the present section because it provides an extremely compact summary of the Writings that was written by Swedenborg himself.

Later non-Trinitarian teachers included: Abelard ( 1079 – 1142 ), who was accused of Sabellianism and forced into refuge in a monastery in France ; Michael Servetus ( 1511 – 1553 ), an eminent physician from Spain, sometimes cited as a motivating force of Unitarianism, who wrote, " There is no other person of God but Christ ... the entire Godhead of the Father is in him ", and was burned at the stake for heresy on October 27, 1553 ; Emanuel Swedenborg ( 1688 – 1772 ); and Presbyterian minister John Miller, author of Is God a Trinity?

" Swedenborg clarified that he was at first enamored by Dippel's emotionally-charged writings and agreed with his attempts to dissolve traditional churches for a more personal faith and rejection of the Bible as the literal Word of God ; however, he eventually criticized Dippel as " bound to no principles, but was in general opposed to all, whoever they may be, of whatever principle or faith ... becoming angry with any one for contradicting him.

Emanuel Swedenborg ( 1688 – 1772 ) inspired Andrew Jackson Davis ( 1826 – 1910 ), in his major work The Great Harmonia to say that Summerland is the pinnacle of spiritual achievement in the afterlife ; that is, it is the highest level, or ' sphere ', of the afterlife we can hope to enter.

Moreover, a person could use some knowledge of correspondences to twist what the Word actually taught if he was not bound at all to the literal sense ; and so, Swedenborg writes, a church's doctrines must be founded on the literal sense of the Word, and correspondences must only be used to illustrate and confirm what has already been learned from the literal sense.

That Judgement was followed by the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, which occurred, not by Christ in person, but by a revelation from Him through the inner, spiritual sense of the Word to Swedenborg.

* The Swedenborg Project A 501 ( c )( 3 ) non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Maryland for the purpose of disseminating the teachings of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, revealed through Swedenborg.

** His direct instruction is found in the Word of the Old and New Testament, and the Word of His Second Coming, written through Emanuel Swedenborg, who was prepared mentally and spiritually by the Lord to receive the Revelation of the Lord's Holy Spirit, which reveals the answers to the mysteries of faith, leads into all truth, and speaks of the Father plainly.

* Members of the New Church believe the One God, Jesus Christ is the author of the Word of the Second Coming, not Swedenborg.

The man told Swedenborg that He was the Lord, that He had appointed Swedenborg to reveal the spiritual meaning of the Bible, and that He would guide Swedenborg in what to write.

Most notably, many of these witnesses describe encountering a supreme Being of Light, or a light at the end of a tunnel, which Swedenborg had also described as the Sun of heaven in which the Lord resided .< ref > Swedenborg, Emanuel.

According to Swedenborg the Athanasian Creed is true, however, if by a trinity is understood to mean a trinity in one person and that person is in the Lord God Jesus Christ.

Swedenborg was merely an instrument of the Lord, as he himself stated.

Bryn Athyn is also the site of the General Church affiliated Academy of the New Church, which is the parent organization of the Academy of the New Church Secondary Schools, Bryn Athyn College, a divinity school, and the Swedenborg Library ( which was named in honor of Emanuel Swedenborg ).

He was also a missionary for The New Church, or Swedenborgian Church, so named because it teaches the theological doctrines contained in the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg.

According to the doctrine of The New Church, as explained by Emanuel Swedenborg, there is no such thing as substitutionary atonement.
