Jessie Alice " Jessica " Tandy ( 7 June 1909 – 11 September 1994 ) was a British-born stage and film actress, who spent most of her 67-year career in the United States.

In October 1791 Tone converted these ideas into practical policy by founding, in conjunction with Thomas Russell ( 1767 – 1803 ), Napper Tandy and others, the Society of the United Irishmen.

Hume Blake Cronyn, OC ( July 18, 1911 – June 15, 2003 ) was a Canadian actor of stage and screen, who enjoyed a long career, often appearing professionally alongside his second wife, Jessica Tandy.

Murch was born in New York City, New York, the son of Katharine ( née Scott ) and Canadian-born Walter Tandy Murch ( 1907 – 1967 ), a painter.

Her career began as a child actress in radio and television, and has spanned virtually all forms of stage and screen ( large and small ) dramatic and comic entertainment --- including, as a teenager, playing the daughter of a lawyer and a former fashion buyer ( Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy ) on the short lived NBC radio comedy-drama, The Marriage ( 1953 – 1954 ).

Hawkins was married twice: from 22 October 1932 until 1940 to the actress Jessica Tandy ( 1909 – 1994 ), with whom he had a daughter, Susan ; and from 31 October 1947 until his death to Doreen Mary Atkinson ( née Beadle ), with whom he had a daughter, Caroline and two sons, Nick and Andrew.

Shortly afterwards, it was ported to a Microsoft Xenix – based Tandy 6000 microcomputer and re-written in MBASIC, and then re-written again in C by programmer Jon Boede.

Similar to the Tandy 200, it featured a flip-up screen, but with 80 columns rather than 40.

Today, it is a subsidiary of Woolworths Limited, incorporating Tandy, and the remaining Dick Smith Powerhouse Stores.

It also sold own-brand models, such as the System 80 which was compatible with the Tandy TRS-80 Model I, the Dick Smith Cat ( an Apple II clone ), the VZ-200 and VZ-300.

Die-hard enthusiasts often bemoaned that Dick Smith Electronics was becoming like Tandy, a competitor in the consumer electronics business which generally stocked non-technical / non-hobbyist ranges with a small range of over-priced components in bubble-packs.

Woolworths purchased Tandy in 2001-2002, so that both Tandy and Dick Smith became part of the same group.

With the takeover, some Tandy stores were closed while others became Dick Smith Electronics stores.

Both stores have overlaps in their product range with DSE ( Dick Smith Electronics ) products being available in Tandy outlets.

Over the last thirty-eight years the Music Center has seen the American debuts of Simon Rattle and Esa-Pekka Salonen, the world premieres of The Shadow Box, Zoot Suit, Children of a Lesser God, and Angels in America at the Taper, and performances by Jessica Tandy, Hume Cronyn, Katharine Hepburn, and Maggie Smith at the Ahmanson.

In 1985 Tandy formed the Tandy Morgan Band featuring Dave Morgan and Martin Smith, both of whom had worked with ELO in live concerts.

The Realistic DX-300 is a shortwave radio manufactured by General Research of Electronics ( GRE ) of Chiba, Japan and marketed in the United States by Radio Shack ( Tandy Corporation ) from late 1978 through 1979.

The Realistic DX-302 is a shortwave radio manufactured by General Research of Electronics ( GRE ) of Chiba, Japan and marketed in the United States by Radio Shack ( Tandy Corporation ) from 1980 through 1982.

The Tandy 1000 was the first in a line of more-or-less IBM PC compatible home computer systems produced by the Tandy Corporation for sale in its Radio Shack chain of stores.

However, the machine and its many successors ultimately proved much more enduring than the PCjr itself, partly because the Tandy 1000 was sold in ubiquitous Radio Shack stores and partly because it was less costly, easier to expand, and almost-entirely compatible with the IBM PC.

In 1967, the Tandy Corporation bought the chain of department stores.

The TRS-80 MC-10 microcomputer is a lesser-known member of the TRS-80 line of home computers, produced by Tandy Corporation in the early 1980s and sold through their RadioShack chain of electronics stores.

In March 2009, Woolworths Limited CEO Michael Luscombe confirmed the end of Powerhouse as a separate entity, also adding the companies third consumer electronics brand Tandy would be gradually phased out over the next three years as the stores leases end.

Although a slow seller for Kyocera, the rights to the machine were purchased by Tandy Corporation, and the computer was sold through Radio Shack stores in the United States and Canada as well as affiliated dealers in other countries, becoming one of the company's most popular models, with over 6, 000, 000 units sold worldwide.

The operation was the brainchild of former Tandy CEO John Roach, who envisioned an empire of retail stores that combined shopping with entertainment.

Initially, two stores were opened, in Arlington, Texas, and Wilsonville, Oregon ; when these proved profitable, parent company Tandy decided to expand quickly, opening an additional 15 stores.
