Early Ontario punk bands included The Diodes, The Viletones, The Battered Wives, The Demics, Forgotten Rebels, Teenage Head, The Poles, and The Ugly.

In July 1977, the Viletones, Diodes, Curse, and Teenage Head headed down to New York City to play " Canada night " at CBGB.

Unfortunately, due to a riot by Teenage Head fans in 1981 ( purportedly instigated by their manager, who allegedly was interested in the publicity ) harder rock acts were thereafter banned from the venue.

After the demise of Atari Teenage Riot, Empire's major releases for DHR sought to continue in the guitar-based, punk-influenced vein of the band.

One of the pioneers of the rock / metal scene in Cyprus is the band known as Kimstyle TR ( TR standing for Teenage Revolution ).
