An Alderson disk ( named after Dan Alderson, its originator ) is an hypothetical artificial astronomical megastructure, like Niven's Ringworld, or a Dyson sphere.

The outer radius of an Alderson disk would be roughly equivalent to the orbit of Mars or Jupiter.
