On 23 December 1972, Palme ( then Prime Minister ) made a speech in Swedish national radio where he compared the ongoing U. S. bombings of Hanoi to a number of historical atrocities, namely the bombing of Guernica, the massacres of Oradour-sur-Glane, Babi Yar, Katyn, Lidice and Sharpeville, and the extermination of Jews and other groups at Treblinka.

Babi Yar (;, Babyn Yar ) is a ravine in the Ukrainian capital Kiev and a site of a series of massacres carried out by the Nazis during their campaign against the Soviet Union.

It is estimated that between 100, 000 and 150, 000 more lives were taken at Babi Yar.

The Babi Yar ( Babyn Yar ) ravine was first mentioned in historical accounts in 1401, in connection with its sale by " baba " ( an old woman ), the cantiniere, to the Dominican Monastery.

Einsatzgruppe C carried out the Babi Yar massacre and a number of other mass atrocities in Ukraine during the summer and autumn of 1941.

According to the Einsatzgruppe's Operational Situation Report, 33, 771 Jews from Kiev and its suburbs were systematically shot dead by machine-gun fire at Babi Yar on September 29 and September 30, 1941.

One of the most often-cited parts of Anatoly Kuznetsov's documentary novel Babi Yar is the testimony of Dina Pronicheva, an actress of the Kiev Puppet Theatre, and a survivor.

In 2006, Yad Vashem and other Jewish organizations started a project to identify and name the Babi Yar victims, but so far only 10 % have been identified.

Yad Vashem has recorded the names of around 3, 000 Jews killed at Babi Yar, as well as those of some 7, 000 Jews from Kiev who were killed during the Holocaust.

In the months that followed, thousands more were seized and taken to Babi Yar where they were shot.

Mass executions at Babi Yar continued up until the German forces departed from Kiev.

In addition, Babi Yar became a place of execution of residents of five Gypsy camps.

According to various estimates, during 1941 — 1943 between 70, 000-200, 000 Roma people were rounded up and murdered at Babi Yar.

Thousands of other Ukrainians were killed at Babi Yar.

Estimates of the total number killed at Babi Yar during the Nazi occupation vary.

In 1946, Soviet prosecutor L. N. Smirnov at the Nuremberg Trials claimed there were approximately 100, 000 corpses lying in Babi Yar, using materials of the Extraordinary State Commission set out by the Soviets to investigate Nazi crimes after the liberation of Kiev in 1943.

In a recently published letter to Israeli journalist, writer, and translator Shlomo Even-Shoshan dated May 17, 1965, Anatoli Kuznetsov commented on the Babi Yar atrocity:

The relation to afterlife punishment and lake of fire location are also shared with the baboon deity Babi.

Baboons are extremely aggressive, and omnivorous, and so Babi was viewed as being very bloodthirsty, and living on entrails.

They are outlined ( including the contents of some further treatises that have been lost ) by Denis MacEoin in ' The Sources for Early Babi Doctrines and History ' 107-116.

The islands / islets are Batu Berlayar Island which full of granite, Pasir Island which is made of sand (= pasir in Indonesian language ) and submerged during high tide, Bird Islet ( Pulau Burong ) which can be accessed from Tanjung Binga Beach by walking when low tide, Lengkuas Island which is a home of 129-year-old lighthouse and a good place for snorkeling, Babi Island and Kelayang Islet.

It contrasts an initial, imaginary section resembling a gloomy fairy tale, in which a mother kills her child because she can no longer feed her, with a second, realistic part reproducing the historical Babi Yar massacre, where the same characters are among the victims.

Yevtushenko's poem Babi Yar appeared in the Literaturnaya Gazeta in September 1961 and, along with the publication of Alexander Solzhenitsyn's novel One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich in Novy Mir, was considered a high point of the relaxation in Soviet censorship during the premiership of Nikita Khrushchev.

The Einsatzkommando was active in Lviv, Lutsk, Rovno, Zhytomyr, Pereyaslav, Yagotyn, Ivankov, Radomyshl, Lubny, Poltava, Kiev ( Babi Yar ), Kursk, Kharkiv and executed 59, 018 people.

Samanta again cast her in many more hit films, notably An Evening in Paris ( 1967 ), again with Shammi, the first appearance in a bikini of an Indian actress, ( Sadhana had appeared in one-piece bathing suit in earlier films ) which not only shocked conservative Indian audiences but also set off a wave of bikini-clad actresses carried forward by Parveen Babi ( in Yeh Nazdeekiyan, 1982 ), Zeenat Aman ( in Heera Panna, 1973 ; Qurbani, 1980 ) and Dimple Kapadia ( in Bobby, 1973 ) but established Tagore's role as somewhat of a sex symbol in Bollywood.

Also interested in Rajasaurus is Princess Aliya Babi ( of the royal family of Balasinore ), who became a dinosaur enthusiast after closely watching the efforts made by GSI at Rahioli to unearth the fossils, and made efforts to promote dinosaur tourism to Rahioli in order to showcase its millions of years of dinosaur heritage.

Bhatt later wrote and directed Arth ( 1982 ), a semi-autobiographical film about his relationship with Babi, and wrote and produced Woh Lamhe ( 2006 ) based on facts about his relationship with her.

First was his portrait of a homeless wannabe revolutionary Babi Pupuška, in Šijan's Kako sam sistematski uništen od idiota ( How I Got Systematically Destroyed by an Idiot, ( 1983 ), a story about a man who embarks on a soul-searching journey after hearing the, for him at least, shattering news of Che Guevara's demise.
