Apart from historical collections in general museums, modern works of art in glass can be seen in a variety of museums, including the Chrysler Museum, the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Toledo Museum of Art, and Corning Museum of Glass, in Corning, NY, which houses the world's largest collection of glass art and history, with more than 45, 000 objects in its collection.

Alfred Corning Clark, builder of the Dakota, had financed Barnard's early career ; when Clark died in 1896, the Clark family presented Barnard's Two Natures to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in his memory, and the giant bronze Pan was presented to Columbia University, by Clark's son, Edward Severin Clark, 1907.

Corning Incorporated has a plant located in Harrodsburg, which makes Gorilla Glass.

For years it was the home to one of Corning Glass Companies leading employers.

In 1938 Owens-Illinois Glass Company and Corning Glass Works joined to form the Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation.

MCI was the first company to deploy single-mode fiber optic cable ( the standard had been multi-mode ), which was manufactured by Siecor, a joint venture between Siemens Telecom and Corning Glass Company.

In the early 1980s, VMX sold voice messaging systems to several large corporations, such as 3M, Kodak, American Express, Intel, Hoffmann – La Roche, Corning Glass, Arco, Shell Canada and Westinghouse.

Using a newly formulated clear glass developed by Corning ( referred to as 10M ) which had a very high refraction index, Steuben designers developed beautiful, fluid designs.

Pyrex ( trademarked as PYREX ) is a brand which was introduced by Corning Incorporated in 1915 for a line of clear, low-thermal-expansion borosilicate glass used for laboratory glassware and kitchenware.

World Kitchen, LLC, which was spun off from Corning in 1998, licensed the Pyrex brand for their own line of kitchenware productsdifferentiated by their use of clear tempered soda-lime glass instead of borosilicate.

In 1962 Corning developed a new toughened automobile windshield designed to be thinner and lighter than existing windshields, which reduced danger of personal injury by shattering into small granules when smashed.

In 2007 Corning introduced an optic fiber, ClearCurve, which uses nanostructure technology to facilitate the small radius bending found in FTTX installations.

Corning ’ s facility in Harrisburg, Kentucky, which had been making LCD displays, was converted almost overnight to make gorilla glass full-time.

Corning Glass Works then changed its name to Corning, and created Corning Lab Services, which included Besselaar and Hazelton.

Corning discontinued its production of Pyrex products, but still licensed the Pyrex brand to other companies, including World Kitchen, and Newell Cookware Europe France-based cookware maker Arc International acquired Newell's European business in early 2006., and currently owns rights to the brand in Europe, the Middle East and Africa .< ref >

It serves 11 counties ( Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, Steuben, Chemung, Tioga, Broome, Delaware, Sullivan, Orange, and Rockland ), passes through the cities of Salamanca, Olean, Corning, Elmira, and Binghamton, and enters the vicinity of several others, including Jamestown and Middletown.

Company profits soared in the late 1990s during the dot-com boom, and Corning expanded its fiber operations significantly with several new plants.

S. Route 15, originally extended to Rochester ); no official moves to accomplish this have been forwarded, however.
