Toledo is the fourth most populous city in the U. S. state of Ohio and is the county seat of Lucas County.

The county in which Toledo sat would, later in 1835, be named after incumbent Governor Robert Lucas, a move that further exacerbated the growing tensions with Michigan.

Acting as commander-in-chief of Ohio's militia, Governor Lucas, along with General John Bell and about 600 other fully armed militiamen, arrived in Perrysburg, Ohio, ten miles ( 16 km ) southwest of Toledo, on March 31, 1835.

In response to allegations that Michigan's militia fired upon Ohioans, Lucas called a special session of Ohio's Legislature on June 8, 1835 to pass several more controversial acts, including establishment of Toledo as the county seat of Lucas County, the establishment of a Court of Common Pleas in the city, a law to prevent the forcible abduction of Ohio citizens from the area and a budget of $ 300, 000 to implement the legislation.

By the 1960s there was revived interest in minor league baseball for Toledo, and public official Ned Skeldon led the effort to remodel the Lucas County Fairgrounds stadium into a suitable minor league ballpark.

Lucas County is part of the Toledo Metropolitan Area.

Waterville is a village in Lucas County, Ohio, United States, along the Maumee River, close to Toledo, Ohio.

In 2009 in Toledo at the new Lucas County Arena a memorial was placed to Art Tatum.

The district, anchored by the city of Toledo, includes all of Ottawa and Erie counties, and part of Lucas and Lorain counties.

Lucas Vázquez de Ayllón ( c. 1475, probably Toledo, Spain – 18 October 1526 ) was a Spanish explorer who in 1526 established the short-lived San Miguel de Gualdape colony, the first European attempt at a settlement in what is now the continental United States.

This was due largely to Ronald Reagan carrying Lucas County, home to Toledo.

In 1835, as escalating tensions in the boundary dispute between Ohio and Michigan Territory ( the Toledo War ) threatened to erupt into violent conflict, Ohio Governor Robert Lucas dispatched Swayne, along with former Congressman William Allen and David T. Disney, to Washington D. C. to confer with President Andrew Jackson.

Kaczala was elected to Toledo City Council in 1991, and he served in that position until he was appointed Lucas County auditor in 1993.

The Lucas County Commissioners teamed with HNTB Architecture Inc., a national sports architecture firm located in Kansas City and local architects and landscape architects The Collaborative Inc, of Toledo to design the Mud Hens Stadium.

The city was founded in 1833 on the west bank of the Maumee River, originally incorporated as part of Monroe County, Michigan Territory, then re-founded in 1837, after conclusion of the Toledo War, when it was incorporated in Ohio.

Citizens of Monroe County joined together in a posse to make arrests in Toledo.

Monroe County, Michigan Deputy Sheriff Joseph Wood went into Toledo to arrest Major Benjamin Stickney, but when Stickney and his three sons resisted, the whole family was subdued and taken into custody.

While Toledo has remained the industrial hub of Lincoln County, the city has never regained the position it once had.

Wood County is part of the Toledo Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Hancock County area has a strong connection with the Toledo Metropolitan Area and upon other opinions, it is sometimes considered part of the metropolitan area.

Fulton County is part of the Toledo Metropolitan Statistical Area.

It then turns away from the Fisher onto the Chrysler Freeway at a complex interchange with I-375 and an unnumbered extension which connects with M-3, then follows M-1, which is less than a mile away through the remainder of Detroit, connecting eastern Wayne County to Toledo and Flint to the south and north respectively.

Monroe County is also officially part of the larger Detroit – Ann Arbor – Flint CSA and sometimes unofficially included as a northerly extension of the Toledo Metropolitan Area.

When Toledo, Ohio | Toledo was incorporated in 1833, it belonged to Monroe County in the Michigan Territory, which led to the Toledo War and subsequent state boundary alterations.

When the city of Toledo was incorporated in 1833, it was part of Monroe County instead of the state of Ohio.

From 1833 – 1836, Toledo belonged to Monroe County, and this led to the very heated Toledo War border dispute between the Michigan Territory and the state of Ohio for the area known as the Toledo Strip.

For the time that Toledo was part of Monroe County, it surpassed Monroe in terms of size and population.

Monroe County ’ s boundary remained unchanged from 1837 to 1973 when one final unresolved dispute from the Toledo War was resolved — 136 years after the conflict.

The first trains to run in Warren County operated on portions of the Toledo, Wabash and Western Railway ( later the Wabash Railroad ) in 1856.

Toledo Public Schools operates public schools within much of the city limits, along with the Washington Local School District in northern Toledo.

Residents of Toledo Beach are at the southernmost edge of Monroe Public Schools.

Other radio stations licensed to Bryan are WGBE 90. 9 FM, a simulcast of classical music / National Public Radio station WGTE-FM in Toledo, and WKJH-LP 103. 5 FM, a low-powered non-commercial station playing Southern Gospel music.
