On August 7, 1912, the Department broke ground on its first construction project, the section of El Camino Real between South San Francisco and Burlingame ( now part of California State Route 82 ).

The Caltrain commuter rail line runs roughly parallel to the El Camino Real ( State Route 82 ) and Highway 101 corridors.

The CDP comprises most of unincorporated El Cajon north of Broadway and east of State Route 67, and a small area west of State Route 67.

Warren was very active in the theater scene in El Paso, Texas, and once appeared as a walk-on for the television series Route 66, where he met screenwriter Stirling Silliphant.

Rock Island System, Southern Pacific Company " El Paso Route "-Boston Daily Globe, March 16, 1905In competition with the Santa Fe Chiefs, the Rock Island jointly operated the Golden State Limited ( Chicago — Kansas City — Tucumcari — El Paso — Los Angeles ) with the Southern Pacific Railroad ( SP ) from 1902 – 1968.

These included: University Ave to Hillcrest and down 4th / 5th Ave to Horton Plaza ; a later alignment down Park Blvd to Broadway ( US 101 ); then El Cajon Blvd to Park Blvd and a terminus at Market Street ( US 101 ); an extension to the new routing of US 101 on Harbor Blvd ; a new connection from El Cajon Blvd along Washington Street to the Cabrillo Freeway ( current State Route 163 ) and into downtown ; and finally a routing down the Alvarado Freeway ( current Interstate 8 ) to its western terminus at the US 101 freeway that is now Interstate 5.

Crossing US 70 at Clovis was the El Paso-Amarillo U. S. Route 366.

State Route 49 then continues northward through the counties of Tuolumne, Calaveras, Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Yuba, Sierra, and Plumas, where it reaches its northern terminus at State Route 70, in Vinton.
