Thomas Bramwell Welch the discoverer of the pasteurisation process to prevent the fermentation of grape juice was born in Glastonbury in 1825.

Thomas Bramwell Welch founded Welch's Grape Juice, and purchased the locally grown grapes to make " unfermented wine " ( or grape juice ).

Dr. Thomas Bramwell Welch developed the first Concord grape juice in 1869.
