Spurred by a sudden influx of settlers crossing the Susquehanna and the licensing and formal beginning of the Wright's Ferry ferry services early in the year, acting on behalf of Maryland as a henchman of Lord Baltimore, Thomas Cresap starting in mid-1730, began confiscating the newly settled farms near Peach Bottom and Columbia, Pennsylvania ( thenunnamed, but soon would be called " Wright's Ferry "), for the question from Lord Baltimore, was who was to get the income from the lands.

Fearing an influx of Pennsylvanian settlers that could weaken Maryland's influence, Maryland colonist Thomas Cresap, under the aegis of Lord Baltimore, attempted to establish a competing ferry and a strong landholding presence around the Susquehanna.

In 1729 Thomas Cresap established a regular ferry service near Smith's Falls ( in the upper Port Deposit area ) crossing the Susquehanna to Lapidum ; this was referred to as Smith ’ s Ferry or Upper Ferry.

Permanent white settlement of the northern Alleghenies was facilitated by the explorations and stories of such noted Marylanders as the Indian fighter and trader Thomas Cresap ( 1702 – 90 ) and the backwoodsman and hunter Meshach Browning ( 1781 – 1859 ).

In 1748-1750 the Ohio Company hired Thomas Cresap who'd opened a trading fort and founded Oldtown, Maryland ( now part of Cumberland ) on the foot of the eastern climb up the Cumberland Narrows along what was soon to be called the Nemacolin Trail, one of only three mid-mountain-range crossings of the Appalachian Ridge and Valley system outside the Hudson-Great Lakes route, or southern Georgia-Mississippi-Western Tennessee plains route.

The Virginia's Ohio Company agents Col. Thomas Cresap and Hugh Parker made overtures to the Indians at Pickawillany, which Croghan opposed in November 1749.

Thomas Aquinas ( c. 1225 – 1274 ), wrote Summa Theologica and Summa Contra Gentiles which both present various versions of the Cosmological argument and Teleological argument, respectively.

Sir Thomas Malory ( c. 1405 – 14 March 1471 ) was an English writer, the author or compiler of Le Morte d ' Arthur.

The earliest known use of the term " transubstantiation " to describe the change from bread and wine to body and blood of Christ was by Hildebert de Lavardin, Archbishop of Tours ( died 1133 ), in about 1079, long before the Latin West, under the influence especially of Thomas Aquinas ( c. 1227-1274 ), accepted Aristotelianism.

Thomas Bowdler was born at Box, near Bath, Somerset, the youngest son of the six children of Thomas Bowdler ( c. 1719 – 1785 ), a banker of substantial fortune, and his wife, Elizabeth, née Cotton ( d. 1797 ), the daughter of Sir John Cotton of Conington, Huntingdonshire.
