David Thompson ( April 30, 1770 – February 10, 1857 ) was a British-Canadian fur trader, surveyor, and map-maker, known to some native peoples as " Koo-Koo-Sint " or " the Stargazer ".

Edward Palmer Thompson ( 3 February 1924 – 28 August 1993 ) was a British historian, writer, socialist and peace campaigner.

His older brother was William Frank Thompson ( 1919 – 1944 ), a British officer in World War II, who was captured and shot aiding the Bulgarian anti-fascist partisans.

In 1996 Weston had been acquitted of the murder of Vikki Thompson at Ascott-under-Wychwood on 12 August 1995, but following the discovery of compelling new evidence in 2009 — Thompson's blood on Weston's boots — he was arrested and tried for a second time.

On December 23, 1788, Thompson seriously fractured his leg, forcing him to spend the next two winters at Cumberland House convalescing.
