Seven stories are inspired by a nursery rhyme: And Then There Were None by Ten Little Indians ; One, Two, Buckle My Shoe by One, Two, Buckle My Shoe ; Five Little Pigs by This Little Piggy ; Crooked House by There Was a Crooked Man ; A Pocket Full of Rye by Sing a Song of Sixpence ; Hickory Dickory Dock by Hickory Dickory Dock, and Three Blind Mice by Three Blind Mice.

Some old characters, like The Three Bears and Little Plum, have more recently made a return.

The character and themes from the comic strip Little Nemo were used in a song " Scenes from a Night's Dream " written by Phil Collins and Tony Banks of the progressive rock group Genesis on their 1978 recording, ... And Then There Were Three ... Another progressive rock group, from Germany, called Scara Brae also recorded a musical impression of the comic on their rare self titled disc from 1981 ( the track was actually recorded 2 years earlier ).

Prominent examples in the US include the so-called Little Three, Colby-Bates-Bowdoin, and Little Ivy colleges in New England, the surviving, predominantly female Seven Sisters colleges along the northeastern seaboard, and the Claremont Colleges in Southern California, but similar institutions are found all over the country.

Three more albums followed: 1985's Little Creatures ( which featured the hit singles " And She Was " and " Road to Nowhere "), 1986's True Stories ( Talking Heads covering all the soundtrack songs of Byrne's musical comedy film, in which the band also appeared ), and 1988's Naked.

Through Silly Symphonies, Disney also created his most successful cartoon short of all time, The Three Little Pigs ( 1933 ).

Three Little Pigs is a fairy tale featuring anthropomorphic pigs who build three houses of different materials.

The Three Little Pigs was included in The nursery rhymes of England ( London and New York, c. 1886 ), by James Orchard Halliwell-Phillipps.

In 1985, Faerie Tale Theatre recreated The Three Little Pigs, starring Jeff Goldblum as The Wolf, and Billy Crystal, Stephen Furst, and Fred Willard as the pigs.

The 1989 parody, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, is presented as a first-person narrative by the wolf, who portrays the entire incident as a misunderstanding ; he had gone to the pigs to borrow some sugar, had destroyed their houses in a sneezing fit, ate the first two pigs to not waste food ( since they'd died in the house collapse anyway ), and was caught attacking the third pig's house after the pig had continually insulted him.

The 1992 Green Jellÿ song, Three Little Pigs ( and its claymation music video ) sets the story in Los Angeles.

The 1993 children's book The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig inverts the cast and makes a few changes to the plot: the wolves build a brick house, then a concrete house, then a steel house, and finally a house of flowers.

In an advert in the British newspaper The Guardian, the aftermath of the Three Little Pigs tale is told in the style of modern news media coverage, including social media reaction and the sociopolitical consequences of the story.

He had supporting roles in several major films: Rose-Marie ( 1936 ), Dodsworth ( 1936 ), The Charge of the Light Brigade ( 1936 ), The Prisoner of Zenda ( 1937 ); and leading roles in The Dawn Patrol ( 1938 ), Three Blind Mice ( 1938 ), and Wuthering Heights ( 1939 ), playing opposite such stars as Errol Flynn, Loretta Young and Laurence Olivier.

In his middle and late career, Gamow focussed more on teaching, and became well known as an author of popular books on science, including One Two Three ... Infinity, and the Mr. Tompkins ... series of books ( 1939 – 1967 ).
