* 1982 – The Mary Rose, a Tudor carrack which sank on July 19, 1545, is salvaged from the sea bed of the Solent, off Portsmouth.

However, the theory was revived and expanded by Elisabeth Sears in Shakespeare and the Tudor Rose ( 2002 ), and Hank Whittemore in The Monument ( 2005 ), an analysis of Shakespeare's Sonnets which interprets the poems as a poetic history of Queen Elizabeth, Oxford, and Southampton.

The new dynasty was symbolised by the " Tudor Rose ", a fusion of the White Rose symbol of the House of York, and the Red Rose of the House of Lancaster.

Although Mary Rose consists of only half of a ship, it is a remarkable example of ship construction from Tudor England, and like Vasa, it contained a wealth of artifacts that tell of the daily lives of those on board.

In addition a crest and supporters were added to the arms: the crest comprises a Tudor Rose and a fouled anchor for royal and maritime connections.

The Tudor rose is the floral badge of England ( and Wales ), combining the White Rose of York and the Red Rose of Lancaster.

The gold-embroidered emblems on the back and front of the coats consist of the crowned Tudor Rose, the shamrock and the thistle, the motto " Dieu et mon droit ", and the " regal " initial of the reigning sovereign ( currently ER for " Elizabeth Regina ").

The original reverse of the coin, designed by William Gardner, is a crowned Tudor Rose, with the numeral " 20 " below the rose, the year, and above the rose.

It was part of the abbey complex and originally was one of three large churches in the town ( the others being St. James, now St. Edmundsbury Cathedral, and St. Margaret's, now gone ). It is renowned for its magnificent hammer-beam Angel roof, and is the final resting place of Mary Tudor, Queen of France, Duchess of Suffolk and favourite sister of Henry VIII ( Mary Rose ).

The film posits in cinematic terms how Edward de Vere's writings came to be attributed to William Shakespeare and portrays the Prince Tudor theory.

2012 is the 500th anniversary of the birth of Queen Katherine Parr and a series of events is planned at Sudeley Castle to commemorate its most remarkable former resident, including a new exhibition with a film introduced by Sir David Starkey, talks by writers and historians and Tudor Fun Days.

The Tudor period has also been shown in other films, including the 1966 film of Robert Bolt's play A Man for All Seasons, the 1990s adaptation of Orlando and various versions of Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper.

Also belonging to the more archaic stratum of motets is Libera me Domine ( a5 ), a cantus firmus setting of the ninth responsory at Matins for the Office for the Dead, which takes its point of departure from the setting by Robert Parsons, while Miserere mihi ( a6 ), a setting of a Compline antiphon often used by Tudor composers for didactic cantus firmus exercises, incorporates a four-in-two canon.
