In 1903 there was a substantial increase in the number of women film several minutes long unclear, as a result of the great popularity of Georges Méliès ’ le Voyage dans la lune ( A Trip to the Moon ), which came out in early 1902, though such films were still a very minor part of production.

After the loss of HMS Sirius off Norfolk Island, Hunter returned to England in 1792, and there he prepared for publication his interesting An Historical Journal of the Transactions at Port Jackson and Norfolk Island, With the Discoveries That Have Been Made in New South Wales and the Southern Ocean Since the Publication of Phillip's Voyage, published at the beginning of 1793.
This provoked Thomas Sprat ( then spokesman for and historian of the Society ) to publish Observations upon Monsieur de Sorbier's Voyage into England ( London: 1665 ) as a reply to Sorbière's perceived insults against both English culture and the Society in particular.
