Arthur Herman Bremer ( born August 21, 1950 ) is an American convicted for an assassination attempt on U. S. Democratic presidential candidate George Wallace on May 15, 1972 in Laurel, Maryland, leaving Wallace paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of his life.

On March 1, 1972, Bremer began his diary with the words, " It is my personal plan to assassinate by pistol either Richard Nixon or George Wallace.

Despite his lack of enthusiasm for assassinating Wallace, on May 8, 1972, Bremer left his Milwaukee apartment for the final time.
