Washoe City was the first county seat in 1861 and was replaced by Reno in 1871.

The Washoe were confined to the area south of Carson City, and they were deprived from owning horses.

Rails were extended North across the Washoe valley, from Carson City to Reno, where it connects with the Central Pacific.

Hearst hurried over to the Washoe dstrict of western Utah territore, where he arranged to buy a one-sixth interest in the Ophir Mine there, near present day Virginia City.

His efforts during this period included founding Washoe City, building smelters in Pleasant Valley and Austin, and becoming an early promoter for the Virginia and Truckee Railroad.

It comprises the counties of Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing, Storey and Washoe.

New Washoe City is an unincorporated community located in Washoe County, Nevada, United States.

New Washoe City is located in the Washoe Valley in southern Washoe County between Reno and Carson City, on the east side of Washoe Lake.
